catalogues and your increases?

Trying getting a contract phone, or something less risky. Once you have build up a year or so worth of good a accounts, you should get one NP.
I'd echo that point too, I got declined for Very about a year ago. since then I have a contract phone and 3 credit cards.
thought I'd give very another chance today and got accepted. only a £250 limit, but hoping that will be increased gradually0 -

Yes good point, I get good deals for instance a 20% discount, plus as a Platinum customer with Littlewoods I get 10% back. So I got a really good deal on a tv,cheaper than Argos and Curry's. Plus the 12 month's buy now pay later pretty good. Don't buy clothes much as I prefer to see them, but Marisota have a good size and range in lingerie:D Think catalogues have good and bad points, just way up really.0 -
I started off with quite high limits on both Very and K & Co with £1500 on each, so not expecting an increase soon, not that I would want it as those figures are good enough for my needs:)0

I love my Very account.
Had the account for about 2 years now. Have a credit limit of £2300.00 not that I'd ever use that. I love it for the "buy now, take 3" payment plans, whereby I can spread the cost of goods over a 3 months period without any interest being added. Have bought summer uniforms and winter uniforms from them on the "Top Class" brand and they're such good quality. Bought the kids presents through them last year after researching prices elsewhere (Argos, Toysrus, etc) and got them all the same price as other retailers or less and took it over the 12 months interest free period. Kids were also desperate for new bunk beds at the beginning of the year, bought those in the sale at £49 + £39 for the underdrawers, on "take 3" payment plan, the same bunks are now over £200. Also got my washing machine through them last year, £229 for a Beko 7KG machine, delivered and installed on the 12 month interest free plan. Love it, so good for budgeting and I use it as my "department store". Just about to pay off the outstanding £120 I have on the account and will then do my christmas shopping again.
I did a search on the internet for a Miele cleaner and Very came out £50 cheaper. I applied online and gave me a credit limit of £1000.
I bought the item and was able to have it as a BNPL item and pay nothing for 12 months. Brilliant price and will just pay balance off late next year.0 -
is it best to reduce your available balance with a catalogue if you don't have any intention of using it, the same way you would with a CC ?0

I got a Very account without thinking it was a credit account about 3 years ago now. Got a £400 limit. After my first purchase and paying it back early they upped it to £1200, but I haven't used it for a good 18 months + now.
I wanted to buy 2 Nintendo DS lites and they had them at £99 each and I could pay for them over 12 months with no interest. At the time they were priced the same in other shops as well, so it was a good deal.
Just a couple of months later, I started to get myself sorted financially and I used it again to get some football shirts again priced the same and again on BNPL.
Whilst generally catalogues are more expensive, they do have offers which can bring products down to normal shop prices.
Coupled with the fact items over I believe £100 can be bought over 12 months interest free, even those who can afford to buy it outright, could benefit from putting the money away in savings account and paying after 12 months later, although nowadays you'll only make a few quid.
Within reason and if you are savvy, cataloges can be very handy if say you are setting up home and financies are tight for a few months. Just make sure you shop for offers and make sure you always pay before the BNPL deal ends.0 -

Nearly got caught out. I bought the cleaner under BNPL and a few weeks ago received notification via email advising my latest statement was ready to view. First of all I thought I would not bother to look as payment no due for another 11 months. However pleased I did because the post and packing was £3.95 which was due for payment now.0 -
Also bare in mind that there is no point in paying money into the account every so often, so that when the payment is due in 12 months, they take the full amount.
You need to ring them beforehand and let them know you want to pay the whole balance off.
I had paid in enough to pay off my BNPL deals, over 9 or 10 months.
But if you don't ring them when the statement is due to pay them, they just take the minimum payment, even though enough money is in the account to pay the whole balance off.0 -
or just login and click make payment against BNPLDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
