Just to share the good news, I have received 908.88 from Santander regarding this loan, and a further 212 in bank and overdraft charges thanks to everybody on this forum especially happy_bunny
  • Hi
Please could someone PM me the template email they used to reclaim

    thanks a lot
  • Doeas any one have an idea how Santander are calculating these refunds ? I had a flexible loan of around £4K in 2005 and have around £500 remaining. Interest rates started at 6.9% and are now 16.1%. Santander had offered me around £300 as a refund of interest. Santander would not even discuss how they calculated the figure. Take it or complain to FOS !!

    Wobbo,

If you ring santander loan telephone number and explain the situation they will quite happily give you the archives address as i have had to do the same.

Its something like PO Box 1111, Bradford but cant remember the rest.

  • No idea how it was calculated, but looking at the fact that so many people have been refunded, going to the FOS will help, as when I did, they said they would refund all money above 7.odd % for x years. So at least I knew what i was getting.

I might be tempted to write back to Santander saying you don't think the amount is correct and unless they can justify why it is within 14 days you will refer to FOS.

If referred to FOS, may take 2 months or so, and in theory, Santander may say they will withdraw the offer, but reading this thread, the FOS is likely to rule in your favour.

  • Kinda lost track of who I sent letters to recently, so if you want a copy of the letter I used, PM me and I'll send it tomorrow.

  • Yeah, I agree. If he's had that for a while, then he could get a fair bit back . Also worth trying to get some charges back if they added any.

More than happy to PM you the letter I used, but may need some tweaking for your friends circumstances.
