I've just stumbled across this thread by accident. I was doing some research around whether it is worth doing a PPI claim on a Cahoot flexible loan I had between 2006-2010.
This thread has obviously got my attention! I paid a small fortune in interest on this loan as basically I could afford little more than the monthly interest payment and then paid it all off in one go when I came into some money just before the term of the loan ended. I paid PPI on it throughout as well.
There are 65 pages on this thread... And I'm looking over my shoulder at work ;-) Could somebody please offer a quick summary on what the prospects etc are with a claim against them? or point me in the right direction so I can get up to speed quickly and note anything I should do? Sorry, I've never made a claim like this before and don't know whether a "Double whammy" will get me anywhere or whether I should just focus on one or the other! In urgent need of a large lottery win...0 -
I would go for both claims although it may be best to do them separately of each other so Santander don't just focus on the PPI. Santander will probably just repay the PPI as there's already precedent and case law that legally they should do this. However with the regards to getting your interest back this will be more of a battle. There are numerous people on here all in the same position who had their claim for the interest rejected by Santander and are now having to go via FOS. I originally contacted FOS in April and have been advised they will respond to me by September so you don't want this to delay your PPI claim refund.0

Thanks Kelly, I'll go for both but separately by the looks of it!In urgent need of a large lottery win...0

I recollect having a flexible loan back in 2006 and closed the account in 2009. I couldn't find the account details but could remember my login so wrote to Santander with a cheque for £1 asking for account details. They wrote back saying they could ind no record and returned my £1. So I got a credit report amped found an abbreviated reference faith the last 4 digits calling it a revolving credit account. Is this enough to claim, is it still worthwhile and what's the best letter template to send. Thanks all0

Have you moved since you closed the loan?
If so ask again with your old address.
If no joy, print out the credit file and send them the complaint anyhow and include the printed report entry. If they still can't find you then refer to FOS:beer:0 -

Just refer to FOS for now. If it gets rejected by FOS then you can have my ref. there are plenty of folks ahead of you in the FOS queue that will report back on here before they get to your complaint.:beer:0 -

I've made a claim against Santander for PPI of the Flexible Loan. they paid up with no quibbles (same for the fixed rate loan I had prior to the flexi). They refunded all payments plus interest at 8%. got over £1200 between the two loans. They sent the refunds as cheques too.Santander Loan [STRIKE]£3003[/STRIKE] £2100AA Credit Card [STRIKE]£3148[/STRIKE] £2676Natwest OD [STRIKE]£1500[/STRIKE] £1370Cahoot OD [STRIKE]£1000 [/STRIKE]£650Capital One Card [STRIKE]£641[/STRIKE] £400Total [STRIKE](Jan 12)[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£9546 [/STRIKE] £7196 (Now)0
