.... went overdrawn by £17 (A forgotten direct debit). I have only just noticed & it has been 18 days... at £6 a day. has anybody successfully got an overdraft charge with them removed?

Ouch  This sort of thing breaks my heart! You do all you can to make a little extra money to help pay off some debt or other and you make one mistake and all your efforts are wiped out! I really hope you get this sorted !!

How are you getting through your debt so quickly?? please help! :)

    Hi Laurren

pure hard work at moneymaking and throwing money at debts, I believe. :)

If you do a statement of affairs (SOA), there is a calculator on the main forum, the Debt-Free Wannabe forum, you put in all your details, and it gives you calculations. Post them on the main forum, and people will come along and give you advise on how to reduce current bills, this will help you to have more money towards your debts.

There is also something called the Snowballing effect on the main thread.

Have you found the Old Style Board yet? The ladies on there are fab for
suggesting receipes, things to pad out meals, like red lentils in casseroles and pasta, so less meat, and more stodge to make people feel full. This helps save money on food bills.

There is a printable coupon thread, where you can save money on food shopping, only if you use it wisely, ie buy things that you would eat/drink/use anyway, and get that cheaply.

ie Tescos currently have 3 for 2 on Bread making ingredients, there is a coupon for Wright's bread mixes on the printable coupon thread, that you can use at Tescos. If you make your own bread, this is very useful.
  • Thanks Susie Sue... I did a search on the site & culdn't find anything. Am so annoyed... I check my current account daily & am really careful... until now. It's a jooint account with my partner & I signed up for a direct debit at a festival a few months ago & forgot. I hate Natwest - that's why I left them years ago!! I hope I can get the charges shifted. I managed with my phone internet charges from holiday... but then I have been a customer with them for 12 years or so.

Well done everybody else on the board and thanks to all too!

I know my posts arent intersting, but just feeling I should be writing something each day makes me get off my bum to make sure I have done something!*

what makes you think your posts are not interesting? You never know what you are posting, is inspiring someone in someway :)

we have a lot of lurkers, people who follow the thread, but never post, who are probably using ideas and suggestion to create money for their own debts. So never put yourself down.

    And keep posting please :)

did they not send you a letter to say you were overdrawn? That would have given you a chance to stop the direct debit ( if you wanted to), pay the overdrawn amount and put you back in the black. If they didn't, I would tell them this.
