Thanks Southerndave. My total overpayments for August were £650, but that was an exceptional month.

My aim is to make an overpayment of £200 a month (on top of my increased monthly mortgage payment) and if I carry on at that rate the mortgage will be paid by August 2020 :j.
• That's fab news.

Best wishes Tilly x

Attended a 'Patients Information Day' today so that DH and myself can get a better insight into DS2's medical condition. It was very informative, good to speak to other people who suffer from it and gave us an idea of what to expect for the future. It is rare for children to have it from birth, so didn't get to meet any fellow parents, but have come away a lot more knowledgeable about how to manage his condition.

Unfortunately, having spoken to a number of patients and specialists, DS2 is likely to be suffering constant pain/discomfort in his feet :( , something which I have suspected but now that he is starting to talk in sentences he can communicate it more to us.

On the positive side, we are at the start of this journey with lots of support around us and hopefully he will be in compression stockings in the next few months which will help to manage his swellings :). We have come away today with everything in a different perspective and it feels like a new chapter in our lives is beginning.
• Sounds like you are coping admirably. All the very best to you all. Ds is a lucky boy to have you looking out for him.
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

Cashback credit card statement received this week. Earned £16.89 cashback last month, so total to be paid to me in January 2014 is £117.26.

My car was in the garage today having it's rear shock absorbers replaced. It set me back £163.20, so now I only have £21 in my Car savings 'pot'. I seriously need to build this up as it has taken a hammering the past couple of weeks. Fingers crossed that nothing else goes wrong with the cars.

Managed to put £50 into the Emergency Fund this week, overspent a little on my food shop :o but had an underspend on my weekly fuel. So will move money around the accounts tomorrow as it is the end of the week.

DS1 came home from school yesterday with another sponsorship form, a membership form to receive monthly magazines full of games, stories, stickers, jokes etc and a letter to see a theatre show with his class that is costing £10 for 2 hours! It doesn't half add up and that's not including the raffle tickets that come around.
• Schools are a pain for that kind of thing. If its not something you'd buy or support ordinarily, don't give in to it. I think they use your emotions surrounding your children and peer pressure (yours, theirs or perceived) to lever money out of parents.

Yes, there does seem to be a lot going on but I also don't want DS1 to miss out on things that his school friends are doing. A lot of the payments are voluntary, but I do pay as it means the trips/events will be cancelled if not enough is raised. Also, for the children who's parents are unable to afford to pay for the trips, I feel that by paying their children are going to get the opportunity to go as well, so they don't miss out either :).

Moved some money between accounts and made a mortgage overpayment of £57 and divided weekly underspend of £14 between Savings pots.

Completed :xmassmile shopping today for the children, my nieces and nephew. All came within budget, going to hopefully buy some wrapping paper tomorrow and make a start on wrapping so that I can put the presents in the attic until the big day. I've got some stuff to get for the children for their Christmas Stockings but that can wait until closer to Christmas, when the chocolate money and chocolate Santas are in the shops :D.

Had a rummage through the freezer and food cupboard today, as I have fallen off the food planning wagon. Having checked everything we had, we have enough food to make 15 main meals. I bought some new storage containers today, so tomorrow I am going to work out the food plan and do some batch cooking that I can freeze.
