Thanks QB and Tilly :). The current Agency he works for are a specialist Agency within his place of work - due to the nature of his job and all employees have to be employed with them before being taken on by the Company itself (think they use it as a vetting service, so that they can get rid of people if they are not up to the job!).

He is going to wait until he gets more information tomorrow so that he has a better idea of what may happen, but will update his CV over the weekend. The previous Agency he worked for in the New Year said that he was welcome to work for them again if his current job doesn't work out, so that's a positive.

Good news - DH is not facing redundancy :j, so relieved! The one good thing is that we continue to live off his old salary and everything above our weekly spending budget, I am ploughing into savings and putting towards the mortgage. If he does end up losing his job in the future and goes back to NMW we will obviously be gutted as we will have less money going into Savings, but we have not changed our lifestyle to reflect his new pay, so things will carry on as normal.

Monthly mortgage interest has been added - £174.44. It is £7 less than last month, but considering I took quite a bit of money out of the Offset to repay a Family loan, I am happy with this. It must be because I am also putting more money into Savings on a weekly basis.

I am doing well with the surveys lately and have redeemed £15 this week. Waiting for a payment of £24.50 which should hopefully be paid at the end of the month.

I have a total of £1,200 available (through a combination of Childcare Vouchers and my childcare savings 'pot') to pay for childcare costs. I am continuing to build on this as paying for childcare is my main barrier to being able to change jobs. I have worked it out that when DS2 starts full time school in September 2014, we will be saving £250 a month - compared to our current childcare costs. Now, I wonder where that extra £250 a month will go . . . ;)?

What a relief about your husbands job.

Great new about the surveys - I find they seem to go in phases of loads or none at all.

Hope you've enjoyed the lovely bank holiday weather.

Thanks megela, hope you had a good Bank Holiday too.

Yes, I am so happy that DH is escaping redundancy. I am continuing to build on your Emergency Fund in preparation of when/if he is made redundant as it is such a great piece of mind to know that we will have some money behind us.

Re: surveys - they do come in waves and I must get around 20 emails a day with various different surveys to complete, so I tend to pick and choose which ones I want to do as I don't have time to do them all. Note to self - I need to start being more proactive with writing reviews on Dooyoo & Ciao, I only tend to post 1-2 reviews a month, so could be earning a lot more if I post more often.

Took the children to a local Fun Farm today whilst it was dry (as it poured down this afternoon). We had a great day out and boys went out like a light at bedtime, as they were shattered.

Back in work tomorrow - it's classed as a Bank Holiday for us so I get 7 hours double time :) then I have the rest of the week off - can't wait!

It's turning out to be an expensive week so far! DH had two new tyres on his car yesterday which cost £104 and I took my car to the garage this morning and had a new Light Panel fitted as one of my brake lights keeps blowing. This cost me £42. My car is also booked in for a full service and MOT in a fortnight.

I am off work now until Monday :). Took DS1 to the cinema today to see 'Epic' and made use of Orange Wednesday's so only paid £7.30 for my ticket and DS1 went free. We thoroughly enjoyed as DS1 has not been to the cinema for almost 2 years (the week before DS2 arrived in fact). He is almost 5 years old and he provided a running commentary throughout the whole film, plus we had an aisle seat as he went to the toilet a number of times and we managed to miss the end as he needed the toilet again! (but at least we were able to catch the very last minute before the credits rolled).

Eagerly awaiting DH's pay on Friday so that I can do my usual shift of monies into my savings 'pots'. I didn't get home from work until 10:45pm last night, so was too wound up to sleep so stayed up a little last night messing around with my MFW spreadsheet. It is now looking more and more possible that 2020 could be the year that the mortgage is paid, but I am not going to pin my hopes on this as currently I am due to repay mortgage in December 2023.

Just finished another free book on my Kindle. I received it has a Christmas present in 2011 and since I got it I have downloaded 83 free books and so far have read 33 books (some were short stories). I am downloading books quicker than I am getting to read them. Loving the joy of reading again and I am making sure I make time for it. Besides, it gives my mind a welcome break from MFW thinking and calculations :rotfl:.

Had a terrible past few days - started feeling ill on Friday and only this evening have managed to get up! Been struck down with a horrendous sickness bug along with feeling achy and dizzy, so have missed out on the nice weather we have had this weekend. I'll have to make up for it next weekend as I've not been able to spend much time with the children :(. It's typical, once again I have a few days off work and I end up ill. Back to work tomorrow.

Done the usual shift of monies into the accounts. Total overpayments made for May were £309. I have already started the month with an overpayment of £41 courtesy of money redeemed from surveys.

I have also applied for a job, not likely to get it though, as probably going internally.

Still feel a little weak and dizzy at times, but starting to feel better, which is a relief.

I have almost reached a £50 payment with Dooyoo and need to earn another £4 with Onepoll and then I can redeem :).

Really feel like I need a holiday at the moment, but waiting on DH to find out if his shift pattern will change. We hope to have a one week holiday (here in the UK) in September, but before we get to that I have to try and organise how we are going to manage childcare for the 7 weeks of Summer half-term , feel stressed just thinking about it!

Hi sweetdaisy - I've just finished reading your entire diary and wanted to say what an inspiration you are! You are very focussed and determined but not to the detriment of every day life with your family - that's really great. I have no doubt that you will achieve your dreams of being MF in 2020 :)

I have chuckled to myself a few times as I've read your comments like "I wish I'd started this 5 years ago" as I was just saying this to my Dad earlier! It's frustrating thinking "what if?" but at least doing something about it now is better than starting in 5 more years time (or later still).
Mortgage: [STRIKE]£120,693[/STRIKE] £107,222 (as at July '13) 11.16% paid Target MFD: Dec 2023

Thanks snappybadger, must have taken you a while to read my diary :)!

Yes, I have written a few comments such as ' I wish I started this x years ago', but like you said at least we are now on the journey, so will be saving ourselves thousands of pounds by repaying early.
