We got married at 12.30 (church wedding - took 90ish mins)
    canapes served at 2.30ish.
Sit down meal at 4pm (took 2.5hrs for 3 courses and speeches)
    Night do started at 7 - 7.30pm
    Evening buffet served at 8.45ish

There werent any big periods of waiting around. We had half an hour between day and night dos where we snuck off to our room to chill for a bit. Alot of guests did the same or by the time they finished chatting the band at the night do had fired up.

oh - and the hairdresser/makeup lady arrived at 7.45. She did my hair, 2 bridesmaids and my mum. We were ready for 11.30ish without needing to rush about and my car took me to church at 12.15.

  • We just booked our wedding yesterday and we are getting married at 12pm on 12.12.12

    Funny you say that :)

We are getting married on the 11.11.11 in Orlando, Florida and went for 1pm to at least keep the '1' theme

We were actually offered 11am, but thought waaaaaaaaay to early as having bridal hair & make up done in hotel suite, plus breakfast so would have to start all that a bit too early for this bride-to-be's liking!! lol) :p

Can't wait now, 1 week on Friday! yay

    xx
  • we are getting married at 1pm, i think we have to be there for 12.40 though.
I dont even know why we went for that time to be honest, maybe because its in october so i didnt want to leave it too late for the photographs!

I think we're being the latest - getting married at 5 pm. Our venue (SS Great Britain) only allows weddings after the ship has closed for "business" (ie tourists/guests) so the earliest we could have is 4.30. I've gone for 5 to allow the "stragglers" more time to get off!

    Timings:

    4.30 - Ship closes and guests/OH arrive
    5.00 - I arrive and ceremony starts
5.30 - Ceremony over and onto top deck for photos/cocktails
6.30 - Wedding "breakfast", speeches etc
8.30 - Evening guests start arriving
    9.30 - First dance
    11.30 - Bar closes
    12.00 - Everyone !!!!!!s off home/to hotel/into Brizzle to go clubbing.
We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

Yay, both making me feel much more relaxed about my 4pm ceremony! My thinking was that it will run much more smoothly that way - my ceremony and reception are at the same place so there's no travel to take into account, and I didn't want everyone to be standing around for ages twiddling their thumbs. But the other day, a colleague was talking about her wedding - she's getting married at 12 and then having reception etc., carrying on into the evening - made me worry that my day might feel a bit rushed... But I think I'll stick to my guns :) I also chose 4pm as that means we're the last ceremony of the day and our co-ordinator told me we could therefore use both the ceremony room and the reception room for our evening do at no extra cost - very MSE! :money:

Emmylou - your venue sounds amazing - please come back with pics after the big day! :D

I'm worried about ours now, we went for 12pm but no idea why really. I now realise that its quite early for our small wedding of 20 people :(.

We're having to do 3 venues due to family issues (disagreements) so were going to go for 12pm and the following:

    12pm ceremony - arrive 11.30am (20 people)
12.30pm - 2.30pm drinks/canapes for 20 people (photos too, we have venue for 3 hours)
2.30pm travel to venue for meal (10 mins)
2.40pm - 5pm meal for 20 people (family) and cake

We then have a venue booked in Brighton for an evening reception, booked from 6pm onwards, but it'll only take 30 mins to get there. The friends and other guests (50) for an evening drinks reception will be invited from 7.30pm, so that leaves us with quite a gap.

I'm very tempted to change our ceremony time to 1.30pm.

    What do people think?

    Panicking now!

retepetsir, our timings are fairly similar, along with the day plan - we have three venues too!!

12pm - Marriage at Registry Office (14 guests) will take approx 30mins
1pm - Arrive at lunch venue & have family photos (10mins drive from reg office & allows for faffing about time)
    1.30pm (ish) - Meal for 16ppl
<<couple photos after meal either at same venue or maybe stop off at Chatsworth House>>
4.15pm(ish) - Check in to overnight hotel (1hr from lunch venue), quick freshen up
5pm - Arrive at evening reception venue (5mins from hotel) - the 120 guests are being asked to arrive at 4.30 so that they're there when we arrive
    6.30pm - BBQ buffet
    9.30pm - Wedding Cake served
    11pm - Last orders
    11.30 - Last song

The hairdresser is arriving very early as it takes an hour to get from my parents house to the reg office so my car is arriving at 11... there's me, my mum & two sisters and he reckons 3hrs to do us all

We’re getting married at 3pm, we decided on a civil marriage at Preston Hall Stockton. We picked a later wedding to cut down on the cost of having a reception meal and an evening buffet but we have ended up having them both anyway.
We just booked our reception at the weekend and from what I think our timeline is:
    3pm ceremony (68 people)
4pm guests arrive at the reception venue
    430pm bride and groom arrive
    5pm wedding breakfast
    6pm speeches
7pm evening reception starts (150 people including day guests)
830-845pm first dance/cutting of the cake
    9pm evening food is served
    12pm bar closes
Looking back I should probably have taken notes as to what happens when.
