Ppi advice line?

Options
This is my first post so sorry if this has been posted elsewhere :-)

I have been getting many calls from a company called 'PPI ADVICELINE' , asking me if have PPI on my mortgage and telling me im entitled to at least £2000 compensation.

Has anyone else had this company call them and has anyone actually used them to claim this money back?
Its just a bit random that this company has just started to contact me and not sure if it is some kind of scam??!?

What is in it for the company as they must get paid for the work they are doing? Do we have to pay them for retrieving the money?

Its all a bit confusing and dont know what to do.

Any help would be great!!

I'm no expert but you should never consider using any of these companies to claim back missold PPI when, for the simply cost of a first class stamp, you can do it for yourself - see Martin's template letter and advice. These companies will charge you a hefty fee for doing very little. There is no way that this company can know how much compensation they can recover or even whether you have a valid claim - only you can.

Forget this company and do a little research yourself by looking at Martin's blog reclaiming missold PPI, to see whether you have a case.

    Good Luck

If it is a monthly paid mortgage ppi, then you probably have very little chance or reclaiming that unless you were not eligible for it or it was unsuitable.

Also ignore them, they are sales people and will tell you what you want to hear.
  • Thanks for the advice, i was on the same wave length to be honest. Why would these companies help people get money back for nothing!?!?
    Thanks :-)
  • Thank you Poppy124. My husband unfortunately was contacted by these people and was not aware of the shortfall in their customer service or reliability and accepted their contract. So far they have sent him letters confirming that some of his claims have been successful but of the total amount they have said has been awarded to him (totalling around £2000) all he has received from PPI is £387. He has tried to call them, has emailed them and even written to them but is always fobbed off with excuses like "the lady who makes the payments if off sick" or "this is not the correct dept to speak to so will ask someone to call you back" but he never receives any reply.

Their paperwork says that they are regulated by the Ministry of Justice so wondered if contacting them would be the best course of action to take to try and resolve this situation. I assume that they are holding on to the money & receiving interest on it expecting my husband to finally give up his claim to the money - or could it be that the loan/credit card companies have not actually made an award but PPI Advice Line are still making a profit by just pocketing the money my husband has paid for their services. :(

If you have made the payment to these people less than siz months ago you can contact your credit card company and you can ask them to complete a "chargeback" so the money you have been charged upfront can be refunded back to your card.

PPI Advice Line are also known as Money made Simple, Redress Claims and from searching on companys house they have also been known as B2B CORPORATE SERVICES LTD and PHONEBOX CORPORATE SOLUTIONS LTD. This looks very suspicious as why would one company based in the same place change its name so many different times.

They are regulated by the MOJ but they are also regulated by the office of fair trading as they are also a debt management provider, it may be worth while putting your case to both to ensure you are issued with a refund otherwise these cowboys will most likely do anything they can to avoid refunding you your money.

I have also heard that REDRESS claims has stopped taking on new customers? a ploy to close down the business and run away with our money??

Thank you for this information on this company. I made an appt today for them to visit me tomorrow and have just cancelled my appt. I will make my own ppi claim with the bank in question. A few years ago we made a claim against ppi on a large loan. We took it to the financial ombudsman ourselves and although we had to wait 6 months for a resolution, we were awarded back £23,000 which cleared our debt with them after we had remortgaged to pay off the original balance. Disgusting to think that the outstanding debt was due to ppi and if it wasn't for our persistence and the help from our own financial advisor (who helped us for free), we would be in debt to this company who had a charge on our property

Have you signed anything or paid an upfront fee ?

If you paid by card. Contact the provider and ask to cancel the payment

Any paperwork signed must have a cooling off period so cancel ASAP

Do not use a claims company you can read the information on this site and do it for FREE !
