I'm surprised Martin is a fan of supporting a company that charges extra per passenger, and try's to disguise it as something else. If you support companies like this, next they will have in their T&Cs a £40 disembarkation charge payable at your destination hidden away. Why couldn't they just charge £11 and be done with it ?

"Also, you’re charged handling fees for paying with a debit cards (70p) as well as credit cards (£1.75). This is per person, per flight."

    rant over :)

There are lots of flights in the period between half term and the Easter holidays at good prices on many airlines, have a good hunt around before booking. BTW airport websites usually list destinations and airlines that can help you in searching. Use google to find airport websites and go from there.

Ryanair are a dreadful company. Customer service in awful, they treat their staff with contempt and now they are trying to get their customers to lobby on their behalf. Dont fall for the free flights - they often have 1p flights anyway, and surcharge you a whole host of extras. Michael o Leary is extremely obnoxius - dont give him any credibility in his pathetic attempts to change government policy. Use another airline & plant a tree if you feel guilty.
  • richpb7 - you referred to customer service not being in Ryanairs dictionary. My experiences with Easyjet suggest that it is absent from theirs too having been left at Gatwick at 4.00 am on a sunday morning due to a cancelled flight home from Nice, an alternative (delayed) flight to Luton, and a bus to Gatwick arriving 5 hours later than scheduled, with no offer of any other means of getting home. If you then try to contact customer services Ha Ha!! - joke - an 0870 number which runs up an astronomical bill as it directs you to a recorded message which after a time sounds suspiciously like a continuous tape loop. It took a strongly worded letter, a threat of BBC Watchdog and/or court action to eventually recover a £70 taxi bill to get home. It may seem that I've gone off the topic slightly here but my point is BEWARE 'Budget' airlines. As you say 'fine' when nothing goes wrong BUT stand by for mega grief and NO HELP when it does.

Exactly, remember this when travelling with children and those that are less able to cope if things went wrong.

I can get cheap flights with three of the four destinations ryanair fly to from my local airport - where are you trying to fly from/to matimage?
  • I just booked flights: Durham Tees Valley to Barcelona, Girona.

Going Out: 24th February. Coming back: 1st March

The total price including insurance (7.50gbp), baggage (1 bag, 7.00gbp) and card handling (1.40gbp) was 31.14gbp.

The flights and taxes were 15.24 gbp.

Hope I can get the time off work!

    Good luck everyone!
