You can use essential oils - about 6-8 drops per load in the conditioner drawer :)

You can buy them from pharmacies and online - very cheap considering how long they last - hope that helps :)

I use soap nuts, which are very eco friendly but they don't have any smell.

• can i say i did make my laundry gloop and it is pretty good but the price of buy sunshine soap and borax from the carbolic soap place was pretty expensive it cost me £8.50 that was 2 bars of the soap and the borax i think i will look into buying something cheaper next time.

Can I recommend that instead of Sunshine soap you try the household soap from Morris@ns, it's only 45p for a pack of 2 bars and smells nice. Also you can pick up Borax substitute for just over £1 a box.

Abigail, I'd try B00ts for their household soap http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-White-Windsor-Household-Soap-2x150g_923906/ or there's this household soap on Amaz0n http://www.amazon.co.uk/Household-soap-125g-bars-Green/dp/B005BWXBTO/ref=pd_cp_grocery_0
or you could get granny's original soapflakes from your supermarket (ok, it was T3sco's I saw them on the website of ;) ) and use instead of grating.

Apparently, fairy household soap is no longer made so I guess that means some of the alternatives won't be either... Though when I started making laundry gloop, I used hand soap, and when I found an odd bar of fairy (or, more likely, Wilkinsons own) under the sink & used that, I preferred using the hand soap.

I bought some soap for washing cloths in Spain earlier this year 750g for 2 euros. I think it will last me years.
