Talktalk - a warning

  • I am having similar problems with them - I am on a rolling contract as of last August as my next years plans are a bit fluid I do not want to tie myself into a contract with anyone.

Have spent 2 and half hours on phone today to them trying to work out why I am still getting marketing calls from them - when my marketing preferences have always been to not to contact me - 5 years now - always check this. Am registered with TPS and also Ex Directory.

They don't seem to be able to answer and seem to be having a lot of people with the same complaint.

I am now logging each call with TPS complaint service as they will get a fine for each one.

I will not even consider them when I look for a new supplier next year when I move.

    Hi All,

If any customers are opted out for Marketing in My Account but are still receiving marketing preferences this will require further investigation
. If customers affected by such an issue would like to join the TalkTalk Members Forum we can manually request the account details are placed on the Do No Contact lists for marketing prefernce which will prevent any further calls.

@Stevobugrit - With regards the migration of lines to LLU this is confirmed in the terms and conditions of the service.

If you signed up via telephony or online sales these are set to you during the Cooling Off Period. In line with Distance Selling regulations you have a period between placing the order and going live where you may cancel the order, should you not agree with the Terms and Conditions once they have been supplied. These are also disclosed in full on the TalkTalk Website, accessible prior to sign up. These detail that, in agreeing to sign up to TalkTalk, your line will be migrated to LLU once available at the exchange.

TPS has no relevance in this case as it is not cold calling-you already have a relationship with TT.

    hi All,

can confirm Macman is correct that TPS would not be relevant if you are already a TalkTalk Customer, the correct process would be to request an opt out either via My Account, the Members Forum, Email, Letter (address in the Code of Practice) or telephony support.

I have also added some further information to my post below in regards the OP's initial issue.

I use to be a customer last year of Ontel owned by Talk talk and I use to get loads of calls from talk talk. I told them upteen times to stop pestering me in end I got truecal which blocks telemarking calls

Now I can't prove that Onetel gave talk talk my details but I was registered with TPS and I never once until I got telemareting calls from them approach talk talk and I am always ex directory so go figure.

I ended up complaining to Charles Dunstone who passed me on to Matthew Hutson and I left them

    Hi Savemoney,

As Onetel were acquired by TalkTalk your marketing preferences would also be acquired. As a TT customer you would need to opt out of marketing via My Account to prevent such calls.

If you have now left TT but still receved marketing calls we can requerst an opt out for you using either of the processes detailed below.
