Had a letter from npower todat saying that they are REDUCING my monthly Direct Debit from £28 to £21 so I am well pleased. . . .for now, anyway ???
  • Does not matter what any supplier says. What matters is your annual consumption of each utility, how many know that, read it weekly. Your cost per kw, with or without standing order. Best arrangements are usually direct debit and email account. If your supplier reduces your monthly payment, do you agree, do you know why, or is it a ploy to make you think the price has come down. Consumers must be in charge of their affairs, must know annual consumption and cost/kw.  All these reports of no meter readings, high arrears would then be a thing of the past. The trouble is that consumers listen to the suppliers, DO NOT. ;D   Tell them YOUR consumption and YOUR current annual cost and ask them for their cost per kw. Work it out yourself. It is your house, your hard earned taxed money, why give it away. They will fade away unless they are genuine.  :o

    Well said chateau42
I say what I like, I like what I say!
  • Thanks Pak Man.

As an aside all the different BG shares were and are a good prospect due to BG Group's superb marketing and customer lack of applying the points made previously. ;D

  • Not only are they at it again with the sales reps, they are at it again with the lies to get new customers.

Just had one who claimed that as they actually supply the gas and electric to this region, they can save me money as they would not make the £5 charge Powergen do for the billing on both gas and electric. He also wanted me to fill in a form for me to get this reduction but when told I did not want to change supplier, claimed I wouldn't be as they already supplied me.

Now, I'm pretty sure this is wrong - I thought Manweb ended up in Powergen via TXU but even so, he told a blatant lie as I would be changing supplier.

Who knows, they may be cheaper but even without Martin's advice to WAIT I would never sign up on the doorstep anyway.
  • Oh Deary deary me.........

Well i'm afraid that i hadn't seen this post as i had a couple of days away for my birthday and now it looks like i've made a very bad move!!

Friday evening i had a knock at the door and a lovely young lady told me all about Npower, Hmmm feel very silly now.

She told me about the £50 discount for paying DD and the price fix for 18 months, i told her how much i paid every month and said that i wanted to pay the same, filled in the forms and bobs you uncle thought i was getting a bargain.

How wrong i apparently was !!!

Mind you i'm with powergen at the moment and they're not exactly cheap so i may save myself a few quid you never know.

I've got a 14day 'cooling off period' so i have enough time to cancel, would you lot suggest i do ???

    Thanks
    Vic
  • I was asking a couple of weeks ago if it was ok to change yet, and the advice was to wait until the dust settles and all suppliers have announced their new prices. Look out for an article/tip from Martin advising that the coast is clear.

In the meantime cancel your new nPower agreement because you can sign a new one if they still prove to be the best buy for you.

I changed my supplier to npower back in march this year and i was paying £10 a month on gas and £26.82 on my electricity, i reeived a letter on saturday saying they wanted to change my electricity payment to £105 a month, i am now in the process of looking for a new supplier. my last bill was only £130.81 for the quarter and they npw want me to pay £315 a quarter. can i just cancel the direct debit and request a final bill and change suppliers?

this is a common npower ploy. the reps come round and set your dd lower than your current supplier, despite being more exp. they tell cust omers that they will also get £50 back at the end of the year.

the stipulations however, are that you must remain with them for the whole year and stay on monthly dd. therefore, in order to get £50 at the end of the year you will have to increase your dd to a stupid amount.

this is how they get around paying the £50.

... and before i get THEM replies, this does not happen to all customers.
