Hi everyone,
I just wanted to find out if anyone in the area has had a Thortons bag put through their front door, offering a free bag of Thorntons Chocs if you complete a survey on Surveystoday.co.uk?
I havent checked it out as yet but just thought Id see if anyone else has had this before and if its genuine or just a scam to get your details on a survey site and get sent loads of junk/spam mail?
Its a genuine looking Thorntons bag and says they will put your free chocs through your door tomorrow if you complete the survey, write a 6 digit code on the bag and leave it out for them to pick up?
Thank you!

I have never had a Thorntons one, but twice have had it from a different chocolate company (a bit like Thorntons, very expensive). They delivered a bag with survey.. you fill in the survey and hang it outside your front door with the survey inside. The company then comes along in the morning collecting the surveys and leaves a bag of choc's in your bag. They were very nice choc's and well worth filling out my survey for lol. It was general questions like household income, where you shop etc etc. And I can't remember it asking any personal details such as name, address, where I worked and so on.
Just make sure you don't have cheeky choccy theives if you do put it out. I got up nice and early to make sure I got MY choccy's before someone pinched them LOL.0 -
I was in Lincoln the other week and loads of people had vouchers on there doorstep for Kellogs Crunchy Nut wonder if it was the same type of thing0

It's just a ruse to get your details on a marketing database.
You have to provide your name, address, phone number, email address, date of birth and marital status. They'll use that information to bombard you with junk mail. In fact Steve Burden of Acxiom Corporation, who are the company behind this marketing stunt, says “The premium survey is a cost-effective way of adding new consumers to our existing database. The mechanism of offline to online enables us to reach more affluent consumers who are responsive to both direct mail and online channels with the added integrity of response generated by receiving instant reward. Affluent urban householders are a key target market for many brands and we believe they will want to take advantage of this fresh data.”

That basically means that Axciom will sell on your personal details to potentially undesirable companies who will send you spam online and junk mail offline.
All that for a mini bag of chocolates!0 -

Lol Thanks all,
I decided not to bother in case it was just a way of getting info and also as my drive is an open drive and if it was left outside I have a feeling it wouldnt have been there when I got home from work.
Many thanks for your replies though!0 -

My mum has had the chocs as well as a free box of cereal. I had to fill in an online form for the chocs but I just put in a load of made-up details, she still got the goodies!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0

I am going to email them and asked where my chocolates are  glad you got yours0
