    Morning All,

What brilliant advice you offered to louise. :T I felt I had no help to offer as it is such a long time since my girl was a girl iyswim! :o

So glad you're feeling better today quintwins and I hope you continue to recover.

Sorry for your loss of the 'best friend' rising from the ashes, so hard as they truly do become a member of the family. Sending you hugs.

Well done to those who have finished their month. Whether under, on or over budget you'll have saved on what you would have spent otherwise.

OH and I had flu jabs just over three weeks ago and we're still suffering the effects. Initially I kept telling him it couldn't be that 'cos they give you a leaflet saying it doesn't cause flu like symptoms (cue jokes about man flu!) but we've both been full up, thick chests, coughing, temperatures, etc ever since. Then we heard from friends and acquaintances how their parents were suffering (some having to move in with them for a week or more) it seemed to make more sense it was the jabs. Yesterday, in frustration more than anything else, OH went and spoke to the pharmacist at the local chemist who confirmed that he has been inundated with people having the same as us and that the effects are lasting on average four weeks! Ugh!!!!!

Back on the GC, OH got a few bits and bobs in town yesterday and a couple of other bits on Tuesday so the sig is now updated to yesterday's figure. Not sure whether he'll get anything else today from the butcher. Doubt it as he fell yesterday in work but has gone in anyway so probably won't want to go far.

I'll no doubt be back later. Take care all and good luck with the final push to the end of November.

    All the best,
    Spigs

Final spend for the month today, had a small spend of £10.73 at Morrison$ and a large shop at A!di for £45.46. Not bad going considering I had to buy a lot of things for having company this weekend.

So declaring for the month at £204.87. Not bad and well under budget too.:D
    Dec GC; £208.79/£220

  • Spiggle - I had my flu jab about 6 weeks ago and two days after it I came down with a horrible flu like virus and ended up having to get amoxycillin from the GP as it went on my chest. I thought it was maybe just a co-incidence but having heard your experience maybe it wasn't!!

Am going to nip round to Tesco later as I have just printed off some Jordans £1 off coupons so will get some porridge for 27p! I won't add it to my total but will start afresh from Monday. There's no chance of spending anything significant over the weekend as I have hardly any money left until I get paid on Monday!!

Just on to update my total, declaring up to end of november £3313.68/£4300. Last 5 weeks to go and £986.32 left should do thie easily.
Freezer is full of meat including a fortuetous deer accident which left me with 3 x chopped venison for casseroling and 5 x venison roasts. Did look like serial killers whilst doing our offroad butchery but will be worth it.
Stocking up for Christmas at the mo so bought the racks of lamb from M's at £9.50 Kg rather than T's 14Kg. Stella is good too at 24 for £12 in T's. Plenty of wine getting the best deal using JTD though disappointed Baileys was N/A, selective blindness me thinks, so back that goes.
Glad we forgot to go for our flu jabs this year judging by the symptoms of those who did go!

    Hi Recovering spendaholic,

I've had a jab every year for a good long time now and the worst I've ever had before was a particularly painful arm when they were first doling out the swine flu vaccine. I think OH will be off to the GP on Monday if he still hasn't cleared by then. Unfortunately I can't take any of the normal antibiotics since the full blown anaphylaxis in the operating theatre in April. And to be honest, I'm now so wary of anything they give me I am just pouring loads of water down me, taking paracetamol and resting when I can to try and get my body to fight it. It's just so disgusting! _pale_

Could be you had a lucky escape russetred ... unlike your deer!!! :rotfl:

    See you all later,

  • Just had my mr t delivery £81 down to £21.50 with my evouchers, it quoted £26 odd but when it came it was £30 odd, so i called them as they had made £8 of overcharges, incl a pork joint t finest which was 3.99 kg, i asked for 1 around 1.5kg, instead got a beast! at 2.7 kg which they charged me £11.05 for, when it was supposed to be around £5.98, so got the differenc refunded and get to keep the joint, which i will split in 2 or 3, since i live alone, got a half salmon for £10 whcuh will be 6 or 7 fillets, great stuff!

So not as much as i expected to add to next months target. :)

And crimbo is half way being sorted, contribution wise for me.

  • Grrrrr!! Just had to take one of the puppies to the vet and it cost me £44:eek: I had roasted a chicken and it was on the work surface cooling, covered with a tea towel I was working in the home office (work from home) and when I went into the kitchen to make a drink I found that one of our two scottie cross puppies had managed to get up onto the worksurface (god knows how) and had eaten almost the entire chicken - carcass and all. Her stomach was really swollen and she was determined not to let me take the last bit off her but I managed to get it and then rang the vet who said to bring her along. She seems alright but has to go back tomorrow to check - that means that I had to pay £44 for which I had no budget so can you please change my December grocery budget to £420 please. Good job I have sold some stuff on ebay and amazon this week or I would have been really thrown!

The chicken was meant to be for salads/sandwiches and curry for over the weekend so I will now have to have a re-think!
