Excellent work, cattysmum - you're right to be proud of yourself :T
Does anyone know if there is a way to make Christmas cake without eggs?

Try Googling 'vegan Christmas cake recipes' - there's loads. Not least this one from Catznine of this very parish. :D

I'm adding £5.83 [veg and SW-friendly snacks for Him Indoors] spent on Wednesday, and an NSD yesterday. Today is shaping up to be an NSD too, but Him Indoors may transmogrify into Him Outdoors  before the evening's out, and if he does, I'll be asking him to get a couple of things. I, on the other hand, have had the day off, and frankly, I ain't moving [hurty back] :o

I'm going to be going through the cupboards and stash at a gentle pace over the next couple of days and removing most if not all of any unhealthy/too-tempting-to-have-around foods that I find. I'll give Him Indoors the casting vote, then donate anything we're not holding on to - and put anything remaining into an 'Evil Christmas' box. There aren't loads of such items, but enough for it to be a worthwhile exercise in mindset terms.

I know some people just chuck 'bad' stuff from their cupboards when getting into a new eating plan, but if someone, friends or local charity, can make use of ours, I'd rather they did so [and it would feel like less of a £ waste too].
Haven't done the GC since February, but a glance at the Tower of Receipts tells me I really need to get back into it... and plenty of other Challenges besides. :o

Unfortunately I only had time to skim the thread for the past few days so sorry if I've missed someone saying something respondable :)

Little one (well, he is a 6 year old dog but we always end up referring to him as little one...can you tell we have no kids? :D ) got neutered at the vets yesterday so has spent all day today walking into walls with his lampshade collar the poor little lamb! Our current account is £124 lighter :( but its the responsible thing to do and we have had him for a year now so there is NO excuse! Where we lived previously it would have cost £50, serves so us right for not doing it sooner. Other than that no other spends, I've been good.

Rising From the Ashes - really sorry to hear about your dog :( The death of a loved pet is a massive loss and I hope you and your family are doing as OK as you can be xxxx

Sick people - hope you all start to feel to better soon! Hope your 'flu isn't forum-contagious or the supermarkets will be over-run with whoopsies without all us GC-ers to empty the shelves!

Recovering Spendaholic - apologies if you have posted, but I was wondering how you got on with the cupcakes on Tuesday? Sounds strange but I did think of you! Hope it went well and becomes a regular thing if you enjoyed it!

    Happy weekend everyone :)

I've not been well since the kids went back to school, they bought back the usual germs and knocked me for six. I've been bed bound a lot of the time and have had numerous steroids, anti-b's and mucking around and changingin my inhalers. Blood test have now found my thyroid levels are low and I am being monitored. I had the same last yeR, though I was fairly much ok by half term and my Dr has been on at me for years to have the flu jabs and I have resisted and I am so glad I did. Can you imagine what I would have been like  My sympathies with those that are Ill and I hope they are well soon.

Redrusset, did you really knock over a deer and then butcher it for your freezer, kudos to you. I certainly couldn't have done it. You are a true money saver. <hmm! Wonders how that would go down as one of the top tips Martin is looking for for the TV program>

Cattysmum, that is a marvellous achievement, well done you must be so chuffed with yourself

Rej-c, try your local women's refuge or the Sally Army, they may be able to use the food.

Will need to go into town tomorrow to get the kids hair cut ( DC1 is bowing to pressure from his grandad and peers and having his lovely long hair cut short. I could cry, as I love the surfer dude look on him :( ) I will also have to pick up some odds and ends at the supermarket but I think it will be my last spend of the month but I won't declare it until the end just in case.

  • Morning all

Got paid yesterday and did a half hearted trolley push round Mr m's yesterday afternoon- really cross as I had left my shopping list on kitchen table so we all know what that means:(

Anyway came out £42.10 lighter (saving grace was £9 was stuff put away for Christmas-chocs,grown up ginger ale;)and a very nice small bottle of cinammen & cranberry cider)

Previously been to grocers for veg etc - £6.04 and local supermarket £8.45.

Making a grand total of £58.59 for Friday alone

Still I seem to still have plenty of "meals" still in freezer so need to go throught the freezer list this weekend to make sure it's up to date.

Oh and please can you put me down for

    £225 for December

Just hope I can squeeze Christmas out of that :(

  • Good morning all :)

Have £9 and £10.46 to add....this is for chicken on special offer and some bulk meat. Freezer full to the brim and only need my wee top up from As*a delivery this week. Might not bother with it if I get a chance to pop to Mr T's enroute to work. We will see what happens.:):)

Will update signature shortly ... keep going, just think this day month Christmas will be over!!!
