Hi everyone, way too much for me to read

Recovering Spendaholic ((((hugs))))), I think sometimes they just push the right buttons at the wrong times don't they.
Well I'm well on track for the month, especially with it being a 5 week month as well. Yesterday I spent:

Bit angry today - thought I'd avoid going to Mr T because I really don't need to, and just get the swede and carrots I need for my soup at Imrie's the greengrocer. Only to find on checking my receipt that loose carrots are £1.30/kg as opposed to 56p/kg in Mr T!!!! Can't be right surely??? Still, they're bought now and I can't really take them back. Should have opened my eyes and looked at the SEL :mad:0

Recovering spendaholic so sorry for your woes, girls can be so cruel at times as I know. I have to echo some of the other comments though about your DD1's age and really she should be buying carp for herself and cooking for herself if she doesn't want what's on offer. Sending you hugs and positive thoughts.
Take care,
Spigs
I completely agree - she is old enough to look after herself and if she doesn't like whats on offer at home she needs to sort herself out.
Please don't be a martyr for your children, they won't love you any more and they certainly won't respect you for it.
If my dd's or ds (even at their ages of 4 and 8) said that I'd quite happily say great, more for them that do want it and there's bread and jam in the fridge if you want it.
They're hardly likely to starve to death or even harm themselves by missing one meal

Probably is I'm afraid. I'm very much all for supporting the 'little man' and would rather shop at independents than at these huge supermarkets but my own needs come first so Mr T etc it is unfortunately. I expected greengrocers to be cheaper than the supermarkets and they are on the odd thing but mostly I've found they're quite a bit dearer. It was interesting watching The Peoples Supermarket a while back and the dairy farmers were saying that the likes of Mr T actually pay them less for their milk than what it costs to produce. So we probably pay them not far off what an independent would have to pay the farmer for milk so of course they just can't compete with the supermarkets.

Just a quick one here. I'm trying to cut my time on the net right back so I can get more stuff done round the house. DD2 is just having a quick nap on the sofa before I take her up to her party at school. Onions are softening on the stove ready to make onion marmalade. DH got paid on the 25th so our month started then. Spent £48.50 on sunday in ald* and an independent supermarket. a lot of the stuff I bought will last us at least a fornight, eg. sack of spuds, sack of onions and 2kg bag of pudding rice(also very good for risottos).
ALL of the other days since the 25th have been NSD:j.
so total for week 1 is 48.50/50.00(200 for the month), will update sig at some point when i get chance.
love and hugs for all xxxxfreecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -

Hello everyone - I started the year doing the grocery challenge but I fell by the wayside (mainly because of the DTD!) and haven't got back in track since thenHopefully I can start again now so can I be put down for £200 for November please? I got some bargains at Mr T today (beans, crisps, whoopsied bread, broccoli, face wipes) so I am already £12 in

Hello all!
Well, I had originally planned to do the grocery challenge from payday to payday as I've started working at the same place as DH so we get paid on the same day (3rd Friday of the month). However, as all my DDs are set around my old payday (last working day of the month) we've decided we should use what little is left of his wage after bills til the end of a month, then use mine. So I'm going to start the Grocery challenge again starting at the beginning of each month. It will make our lives easier to organise financially I think. Still going to try and stick to a £60 budget though I think that may be a bit optimistic but the freezer is still quite full from my big October shops so fingers crossed.
Thanks all for the support xx0
