Trying to use up things in fridge before someone comes this afternoon to fit new gas hob, gas double oven and a fridge freezer.

After lots of hassle with british gas we eventually decided to get a good local company to do the work so fingers crossed. Sick of having to dodge the fridge freezer in front of side door and of seeing the new hob and oven in our hallway.

Can't wait to get cooking equipment that is not broken and dropping to bits.:j Won't be able to use that as an excuse for a not very nice meal anymore though.

Sorted through linen basket and that is now empty - all bedding put away etc. Also sorted out stuff in boxes in wardrobe. I now know exactly where candles, lighters, torches etc are in case of a power cut.

Used up leek and potato soup, home made meat pie, mash and mushy peas for lunch so fridge is looking emptier and DH is looking happy.

New curtains arrived yesterday and hope to get new curtain poles up, curtains taken up a little and the curtains and thermal linings put up by late next week in living room. The ones in the hall feel as if they are making a difference already.

I hate winter too but am hoping getting everything snug, functional and having books to read, new recipes to try and a new coat and boots to keep me warm and dry when I venture out will help.

    Hugs to all

HH: Watch it. I had a friend who decided to give her DH a treat by draping herself in a provocative pose over the kitchen table, wearing just a suspender belt and stockings. As she heard the garden gate go she called out, "Come in, Sexy." The Kleeneze man got quite a surprise.:D
Candyg: I reckon that between us we could make one efficient person. Let the sun come out and I am sunk in lethargy, but this morning when it was dark and pouring with rain I had a rush of energy and absolutely blitzed the downstairs. It looks lovely and I felt so happy doing it. I can't wait for the dark evenings. Weird or what?

The Vicaress was out to lunch and has a dinner tonight so I don't have to cook at all today. I'm quite happy with a Ryvita and bit of cheese or a boiled egg. Perhaps if I lived on my own I would be able to lose weight at last.

Oh well, on with editing the church mag.

    Love to all.

Hi everyone...can't believe I've not been able to post til now!

Bargainbird, thanks for the ((HUGS))...have some back ((HUGS)) - am having a better day today with DH thankfully. :)

I've been to Uni for my class and actually understood most of it - 'the philosophical and visionary belief system in William Blake's poetry and art'.

(It sounds harder than what it is lol).

Got some food for the rabbit and saw my 1st albino snake.

Went to A$da for a week and a bit shop and even though I spent £59 - a tenner more than usual - I got loads of baking stuff that I'd run out of...bread and cakes here I come!

Am planning on making some chicken broth for tea using leftover chicken and some dried broth mix...maybe some carrots and spuds will end up in there too.

Can't wait til my SC comes tomorrow!!!

Hugs to anyone who wants/needs one! :)

  • Bbrighteyes, wrre you already scheduled to be atwork, or is he expecting you to go in, instead of the days you had planned? Can you phone round local out of school clubs and see if they can take her on an emergency basis, or a playscheme? Sorry I have probably missed it, but how old is she?

She's 6 on Monday, Well my rota is 4 weekdays a week, dd would usually go to her dads tues and wed so I work them and take the thurs and fri unpaid during holidays but as he told me he couldn't have her I haven't worked my shifts. I did go in for 3 hours yesterday mornin as my mum didnt start until lunchtime. I work in a big toy store so as you can imagine it's rather busy atm and he says I have to make up the hours this week. Usually I would have gone in on Sat to make them up as my mum is off but it's dd bday party :(
Thanks for the info on playscheme's, I will try that x hope this makes sense

  • You might also try local private nurseries, because she is so young, and its half term, they might be willing to offer her an emergency few hours. Also ring the council first thing, or check their website now for a list of childminders in your area, they might be able to help, and you will be able to call them tonight, as they work from home! You dont know anyone with older teenage daughters who could babsit for you?
