OS Daily Wednesday 26th October
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 25th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

  • Morning all

I presume you are all in the land of nod. I am in Sydney and it is 10.40am here. Shockingly it's not that warm or sunny :( but due to improve later in week. I am currently in an internet cafe uploading pics to FB so thought I'd say hi.

So far on my travels I've spent 3.5 days in Hong Kong. I absolutely fell in love with HK :D. It's an amazing city, so clean and efficient. And so cheap! It cost me 9pounds to travel round on the subway system the whole time I was there, and I used it a lot!! Whilst there I went to see the Big Buddha and to Victoria Peak, amongst other things.

I've only been in Sydney since last night so I am on my way to go for a wander to see the sights but wanted to upload some pics first. My first flight was great, but on my 2nd flight the vertigo kicked in just before boading :(. The staff saw that I looked unwell so helped me to my seat etc. Luckily the plane was empty so I had 4 seats to myself :D so I took my tablets and had a nap and felt fine then. Although my ears felt awful on landing!

Anyways enough rambling from me, hope you are all well

    xx

Flutterby - where are the photos? Sounds fantastic - hope you're having a fab time. Make sure you see the bridge and the opera house. I'd love to go.
Taking the children to a lead mine today as we have a voucher I got from the school fair. Dinner tonight is sausage casserole and mash - already out defrosting. Seeing a friend I've not seeing for far too long tomorrow so am getting excited. Washing to do and still haven't tackled the ironing!!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Morning all

Still dark, so not sure of the weather but it's not raining and not cold enough for the heating to go on, so I'm not complaining! WM going on in a minute after I've had my cuppa.

Taking littlies to play with a couple of friends and their children at one of their homes today, then I want to blitz the front and dining rooms. Yesterday I got loads of bedding dry on the line and washed all the ground floor windows outside, so the bedding's to sort and put away and the windows inside are to clean.

**Rant alert! Having various problems with our 2 oldest children - pleading poverty yet unwilling to change their ways of living! DS1 is not the most truthful of people, has debt collectors after him sometimes and spends like there's no tomorrow; DD1 expects us to loan her money to get her out her current fix and starts nasty arguments when we refuse - all conspiring to give me many sleepless nights! Grrr!! They owe us quite a bit between them, but we're not holding our breaths that we'll get it back soon! Rant over! :)

On a brighter note, I'm hoping I can play with my new SC today - got it a couple of days ago and am itching to get started! DSis got hers a week ago, has used it a few times already and is over the moon with it - we don't get out much! :D

Have a good day all, hugs and kisses it anyone needs 'em.

FB glad you are having a good time. Sorry to hear that Cheapskate. I hope DH makes it home soon Cat. Have fun esmf.
Hubby has been dropped at the station with his packup, breakfast eaten & fish fed. My bottom lip is even fatter & more inflamed & I'm still not sure what it is, I've never had a cold sore before & at my age it seems a little late to start getting them, also it hasn't scabbed over & should have by now, oh well, I shall go & get some teatree oil this afternoon & try that. I made banana bread yesterday & lots of soup I've stored the soup in empty plastic milk bottles, as long as you don't fill them too full you can freeze them too.
Tea tonight will be ham, egg & chips.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Wet and windy here (not me :D) so no washing today, I am off to work, feel a bit rough, but will see how I get on. OH has taken the day off as he feels bad too, and its horrible for him working either outside or in a shell of a building, cold and damp eugh !!

Dinner tonight will e cheesy ean pie which dd will make with sausages, I will ask the pair of them to have a tidy / hoover through too :T

FB nice to see you posting, and glad you are having a good time xx

Hester, B***ts do a duel action coldsore lotion which is a clear liquid in a tiny bottle, which works wonders for me, might be cheaper than tea tree too.

Cat has DH made it home yet ??

Ok better get on, have good days all xx
  • DS is back for the rest of the holiday :)

We have to go to the optitions for his glasses today, then homework this afternoon!

Horrid weather here, the rain had me up in the night (I can normally sleep through anything!)

Dinner tonight is pizza for the boys, and LO Sausage Casserole for me :)

Hope everyone has a great day x

Hi everyone. Still feeling like c**p with this horrid cold. I can tell it's getting a little better each day but it's left me with a nasty cough and a complete loss of appetite; I must be bad - I don't even fancy chocolate!

Flutterby - sounds like you're having a good time. Hope the vertigo doesn't affect you again.

Cheapskate - that must be such a worry for you. If they're adults, it's not fair that they're giving you all that anxiety.

Redruby - hope you and DH feel better soon.

Hester - I think tea tree oil is supposed to be good for cold sores, so it's a good idea to get some in. It's not too expensive, either.

We've had two days of heavy rain, so heavy it's stopped work for DH because he's currently pointing the outside of a house. He doesn't mind working in the rain but the material he's using won't go 'off' when it's damp, so there's not much he can do about that.

Well, I've got a load of teatowels in the WM so I should be able to get them on the line today, then I must run the hoover around and get the duster out; everything's been neglected lately and it's starting to get on my nerves.

Hope you all have as good a day as possible.
