Hi
I would add cocoa for baking fave choc cake - http://www.instructables.com/id/The-BEST-chococlate-cake-ever...that-happens-to-be/ I use the recipe to make cupcakes a good frosting is peanut butter mixed with silken tofu - tastes like snickers and jam/marmalade for breakfast and mango chutney for making sauces and veggie burgers (mixed with some beans etc)
Natlie, if you are still about on here do you have the tofu and peanut butter frosting link or recipe please?GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £44.54/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. 1 block of firm tofu and 2 of silken to use up.
Any ideas/tried and tested recipes?
M and M have you tried chocolate mousse with the silken tofu or cheese sauce yet, as they can be done with it aswell.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £44.54/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Hi k9s
I've got an enormous amount of stuff to get through so will be happy with the company!!
I'm having a spend no more than £20 per week in April so hoping that I will get through plenty0 -
Hi - not a vegan but I am mum to one inspirational vegan, and I cook and socialise with mainly vegans. I don't eat or buy dairy or meat for the home but I will cook meat as a side dish so our wider family gatherings are inclusive of all.
I am a chef and I hope to increase the number of vegan/plant based choices in our range at work. I love experimenting with recipes. I love food full stop so am I welcome?
Plus I spent the day sorting out my cupboards and freezer :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Very welcome OMT
only vegan recipes though please
Didn't manage to cook anything yesterday...plans went to pot but I'll be on it todayjust thinking about putting some rosemary in with the butter beans and sage...
I have an enormous rosemary bush in my garden...it's old and wild but I love itthe sage is ancient too but I've had them so long they've probably been the best garden investments I ever made
along with the thyme; having perennial herbs certainly makes eating out of the store-cupboards and freezer a great deal easier!

So have i, but with overflows of food in my spare front room, and three freezers (one is half full and will be getting rid of it once empty), i wont be listing everything in here. I do however have a freezer book at home, just not a cupboard book
Hi OMT welcome to the board. Hopefully you give us some inspiration, being a chef :T. I used to work in a restaurant and even their veggie options weren't good and they had the same fryers for all food. Instead of using one for veggies and vegans (as there were two), they'd be used when it was mad busy. Glad i don't work there any more, and nice to see that your implementing vegan meals in your workplace.
I made tacos last night, so instead of making a new batch of filling, i defrosted the two tubs of chilil in the freezer, added a bit of mince, as it was just a sauce . Loads of sides, so means abit os space in my freezer. Mines all vegan plus vegetables an herbs and daughter has the ither freezer which is mainly vegetarian.
I'll try and report back regularly, aswell as to find ideas for tea.
Maybe we could all post a menu plan here on a Monday for the rest of the week, to give others ideas. icontinuetodream would have been ace for that ... :AGC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £44.54/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month.
