Jesus OP, just tell him to bring £160 in cash on collection ONLY! Done and done. For record keeping purposes, perhaps he wants to pay via paypal, fair enough. But (even though he has great feedback as you say) why go through with it knowing he may decide to not "like" the item after a while and reverse the transaction illegitimately.0

I've put something along these lines 'I am on an early shift tomorrow morning and would prefer at least 24 hours between paypal transaction and collection in person, to ensure all goes smoothly. Bearing this in mind (and that it is now after 10pm) there is no issue with collection from Wednesday onwards, providing payment is made tonight. My other half can be available to hand over the item to you Wednesday / Thursday / Friday morning / or day, and I will be in from 6pm onwards this week should you wish to collect on an evening. If you would prefer the weekend, a time can be arranged. Failing this, we can deliver to you, if the day or time is convenient'.
What difference would this make? He could collect and then claim INR and as you would have no tracking, Paypal would refund him so you would be the item and the money down.
Cash on collection only!:hello:

You can't unfortunately refuse paypal but as the buyer has now paid by it, you should really be posting it with full online tracking showing an online signature.
I would tell the buyer that you don't allow collection.
ETA
To ensure he doesn't claim INR you need the above online tracking.0 -
Oh !!!!!! (excuse the french). He's paid by paypal (I invoiced him minus the courier charge). Can I now contact him, given all I've said, and say I'd like to courier it? I've made a real mistake here haven't I (I don't sell on eBay much). I feel like such an idiot - I'm going to have to take the postage hit because I've invoiced him and he's paid - is that correct? I'm just terrified.0

What I would do is email him back and say something along the lines of " Due to Paypal and Ebays policy I will be posting this to your Paypal address Special Delivery. This will give both buyer and seller protection" That way you're covering yourself against any charge backs. I only allow cash only on collection and Paypal if I can afford to loose the money.
Use Special Delivery not Recorded. Special Delivery covers you for a higher amount in the event of any loss.0 -
Thank you. I've been a total pushover and now feel so stupid. I was going to courier it originally, and felt pressured (and to be honest, tempted by the promise of a quick turn around and no postage). I will arrange for the courier to send it and email something very similar to what you've written, mechanic. I just don't want to be seen as stepping on the buyers rights, to the extent that they then start complaining loudly.0

I was going to write just the same. I would cover the postage yourself, but definitely post it!Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?0

I don't think you'll be stepping on his rights. If he does start complaining to Ebay just reply calmly to Ebay you are abiding by their terms and conditions.
You are doing everything in accordance with PayPals and Ebays policy. There was a thread on here not long ago some one sold an iPhone 4 the buyer paid by PayPal collected and reversed the payment. Paypal found in the buyers favour because the seller couldn't provide tracking numbers so he lost his phone and money.0 -
Thanks again - I'm live chatting with an ebay agent at the moment, and they're giving me some information too. I just don't feel comfortable with this buyer, who has been extremely insistent. Perhaps he just really wants this Mac!!!! eBay are advising that I contact them; provide my paypal email address and ask them to make payment of postage charges OR send and invoice directly via paypal OR refund and invoice again!0

OP, your gut instinct is telling you something - listen!
Good luck in whatever you decide but remember Seller Protection is there if you abide by its requirements.
