Chair covers & Wedding Favours

Hello

Anyone got any clever ideas for wedding Favours and cheap workaround for chair covers.. think we've got costs for £3.50 - £4.50 per chair.. which can add up when you got 90 guests going and thats only for hire..

Much appreciated.

Why do you need chair covers?

Seems unneccesary to me! Mind you, people will say that about favours and we had them!

Unless the chairs are nasty conference centre type chairs I wouldn't bother covering them.

  • Unfortunately they are like pub chairs.. as its for the ceremony we would like to get a more churchy feel.. instead of a confernce in a hall feel.

This is how they used to look.. but have changed for the worse..

We want it to look like this

Same place but look at the difference!

I still don't think it's worth splashing out, I'm afraid (but obviously your choice!).

I'll PM you a link to our wedding photos - I promise you the chairs are not the thing that will jump out of your photographs!!!

Have to admit I'd be tempted with the chair covers too... it looks lovely there :)

  • Ooooh, they look really nice. They aren't really necessary and to be honest how long will your guests be sitting on them? On the plus side if you got them made you could maybe sell them to the venue or to someone else? I would see if i could find a local seamstress that may be able to help, they should be able to source material a bit cheaper. If this is not possible have you looked into renting chairs from somewhere else or maybe seeing if there are any companies that can rent out covers?

Well the wedding is all taking place at Miskin Manor.. the ceremony aswell. 90 guests for the days event and 150 in the night. So i assume as the ceremony is in a different part we can cover the 90 chairs in the ceremony place and while we are having photos etc.. they will take the 90 chairs into the main area for the breakfast...thats what i'm hoping anyone..otherwise will be bit costly for the covers just for 40minute use.

The hire costs are £3.50-£4.5 per chair.. so maximim cost is £405.
The wedding is booked for June 20th 2008 so plenty of time yet.. so possibly someone could make them for us if they could then i would pay £400 for them as would be able to resell on ebay or something.

Depeding on cost of material I'd think? But you could try local design colleges maybe? If you provided the material some of the hard up students might be happy to do it?

If you're thinking of having them made and then doing it yourself don't forget the labour that goes into covering chairs as well, it isn't just the hire of the covers you're paying for - each chair cover gets ironed just before being placed on the chair, the tulle is then tied in a bow around that. Chair cover companies I've dealt with generally have about 2 people, and covering 100 chairs in this manner would take them about 2 1/2 hours. Bearing in mind that access to a reception venue can generally only be obtained a few hours before the reception is due to start, do you have a couple of people who can be there, whilst you get married, doing this?

Umm think i better ring the hotel and check what time they say we can have the venue from. They must have had companies in before to do this kind of stuff.
