Richie23 wrote:90 guests for the days event and 150 in the night. So i assume as the ceremony is in a different part we can cover the 90 chairs in the ceremony place and while we are having photos etc.. they will take the 90 chairs into the main area for the breakfast...thats what i'm hoping anyone..
I would check that they are willing to do that. I would make sure that they do have staff available that are able to move 90 chairs in between the ceremony and the reception.
Personally I wouldn't bother with covers. How many weddings have you heard about where guests say "yes we had a brilliant time, but you should have seen the state of the chairs"Here I go again on my own....0 -
I know what your saying.. but the covers make a huge differnce between wether its a hall you get married in or a nice romantic churchish feeling place.
Hope that makes sense..

My heart understands how Richie feels .... it's your and your beloved's special day and although the chairs without the covers are not great, it will be a shame to have to "make do".
Don't have any bright ideas at the mo regarding the chairs. Oh gosh, use big pieces of tissue paper instead of fabric? They might tear .... or how about those disposal white table cloths that looks and feels like damask? Don't think they are cheap either
Just want to share what my friend did last year when she got married. As wedding favours, we all had a round stone that was collected from the beach where her husband proposed to her. Said stone also had the guest's name written on it so it also functioned as a place card at the breakfast. I thought that was so cool!
Instead of commercially bought confetti, my friend's parents collected masses of rose petals in hot pink and white and had them dried. They were wonderful as well as environmentally friendly - just mulched away on the lawn naturally. The confetti came in a small paper cone that was made from a photocopy of my friend's engagement announcement in the newspaper.0 -
When we got married I decided to go to the local heart and stroke shop and but their material roses badges ( my father in law had had a stroke) they were £1.00 each and at least I felt the money had gone to help as well.I'm sure there must be some charity which has a connection to yourselves and if not there are loads of different flowers out there. We then had gorgeous chocolates from a local chocolate maker which were wrapped in foil to match our "colours" with a piece of netting around them which had a computer printed ticket with our names and the wedding date worked out very well most of the "Aunts" etc were wearing their flowers by the end of the meal and by going to a local choc.shop they bent over backwards to get the colours correct .( the chocs were delicious)
Dont know how you're mixing the guests at the tables but as we had roughly 1/3rd his, mine and friends and decided to mix them one of the best tips I had was to put a joke inside each of the folded name places which was great for breaking the ice and cost me about 50p for a joke book from a book shop to cut up, also name the tables don't number them then nobodies nose is out of joint.
All the best for the Day and your life together .0 -
For favours, how about only giving them to the ladies? I did lottery tickets and made little envelopes and at the end of the night I had the lottery numbers read out! Everyone loved it.May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the crotch of the person who screws up your day and may their arms be too short to scratch...:D0

I would go with finding a local seamstress. And as for fabric I would buy curtain lining, its plain cream or white and if you have a good look around you can get it for £1 yd it is really wide too.
In North Wales there is a shop called "the bankrupt shop" which sells fabric very very cheap. They may even have one in South Wales?
This is the tel of their main shop in Crosby I would give them a ring:
Tel: 0151-284 1641. They also have their own curtain makers so someone may be able to help you.
Good luck and happy planning!! xx0 -

we bought 100 tickets and only 1 person won £10!!0 -
If you really want to cover the chairs then personally I'd suggest not putting the white cover over the whole chair, just obtaining loads of organza, or even cheaper, stiff net from a market (talk to the stall holder & he will probably do you a deal on a ream or 2 of it!) and tying this is a bow on the back of every or every other chair with a bit of greenery (ivy?) threaded through teh knot/bow. This will take the "pub" effect off the chairs & make them look more wedding-ish without incurring a huge cost. However, I would check first that the same chairs will be used as this doesn't actually sound likely to me.
For favours I bought about 3 meters of organza, cut in into circles using a side plate as a template, put 3 circles together to get the layers, put the traditional 5 sugared almonds in each & tied with a thin peice of co-ordinating ribbion & stuck a ivy leaf in the top of each one. They looked effective, were traditional (does anyone get fed up of everyone trying to out-do each other on favours?) & cost less than £20 for 100. My friend did the same thing but didn't want sugared almonds so used jelly babies!:D
HTH;)Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
For favors we got a special gift box of which the wife decorated with a bow and some fancy trimiings inside she placed some coloured paper with sugared almonds for the women
For the men she gave a miniture bottle of whiskey which she neatly placed a shiny bow around the neck for the men
Bought all the whiskey from Spain as a lot cheaper to buy from there that from the UK.The trouble with work is that it interferes with living0 -
£400? That's £10 a minute and when guests are seated you won't really SEE the chairs and hopefully won't spend the duration of the ceremony judging the chair in front.
I like Lillibet's idea with the organza!0
