Well, that was the easy part. THe OR phone call could be more tricky. Our BR is simple compared to others. Hopefully we can keep our house as there is -ve equity in it at the moment. We'll soon find out.0 -

Hi, My first post here.
I filed for bankruptcy last September seemed mad you have to pay to be made bankrupt when you are broke. A very straight forward process though and worth every penny to be rid of my then partner all debts were in my name but as we were renting and all debts unsecured was the best way out. Nearly through OR sent me a letter to say they were applying to be released. Still being chased by one creditor acting on behalf of Abbey called Debt Managers Ltd I just put the phone down and send letters to OR.
I see light at the end of the tunnel0 -
Hi,
Well I haven't been on here way too long, funds, but I am glad its still up and running and still giving great advice, another reason why I am here.
Since I went BK last April; I have moved , got married
and we are now expecting a baby :j and on the 20th January I was discharged early
!! Which was a brilliant start to the YEAR!!! I still have to make 2 1/2yrs of £240 payments but that is a small price to pay for a life and peace of mind.
On the downside at the end of the year my job is going to change which will make it near on impossible to have a life and see my children (from Ex) on weekends. But there is an early redunancy package avaliable, does anyone know if the trustee would take it all? Also my parents (after letting me go through BK, to teach me a lesson) have agree to pay off what I owe, do you know if that is possible?
?
Since I went BK I cannot say what a difference it has made to my life, I have also managed to help and convince 3 other people to do it. I hope anyone reasing this will also do the same.
Many thanks in advance for any help.0 -

Sounds like things are going well.

This thread is a blast from the past!
The redundancy payments should probably be safe since they are normally treated as an asset rather than income. If you received them while you were bankrupt they could be claimed, but should be safe now you are discharged.
Paying off the debts isn't simple. They would have to do that though the OR/trustee looking to annul the bankruptcy, which would cost a lot more than the debts owed because all the fee's of the OR and trustee would have to be paid as well.
If they are serious, then you need to talk to the trustee.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
