First thanks in advance for any help, and second please go easy as I am not very techie
I have two problems with my laptop (Samsung running win 7)
1) the left click on the bar has stopped working which means I can't 'drag and drop' or highlight, or move a window on the screen. Does anyone know how to fix this please? It just stopped working today.
2) my laptop is taking ages to open programs. I looked in 'my computer' and it shows a red bar on local drive c (where the windows OS and programs are). Could this be the reason? I have deleted a number of unwanted progams but it hasn't really freed up much space and it is still showing 2.5gb free of 103gb)
I did wonder about moving the programs folder to the d drive or even onto the external hard-drive to see if that works but with no drag and drop facility, that's no help (and anyway, I need advice before I start messing about like that!)
I do have to go out later, so if you reply and I don't answer straight away, apologies in advance.
Thanks
Daisy

Programs folder? Are you drunken?
You can move the contents of Documents/Pictures/Videos from C: >
Double click on the
drive and create folders of the same names.
Right click > Copy(from the folder on the C: drive) > Right click > Paste(in to the folder on the
drive).
Once confirmed that the files are on the
drive, you can delete them from the C: drive. 0 -
Okay, thanks, I realise now what is happening - all my documents, pictures, etc are being stored in my c drive (which has 103gb) and almost nothing is stored in my d drive (which has 338gb free of 347).
So I understand that I need to move pictures, documents, etc to my d drive to free up space in the c drive.
But when I go into the C drive there is no obvious folder for documents or pictures etc. Any idea where I should look for this? Thanks

My Docs/My Pics is accessible from the Start menu.
You have barely 2.5% free space on the C drive, you need at least 15% to make your laptop function properly.
Surely you have all those files already backed up on another drive or media though? No free lunch, and no free laptop

But don't move the Folders....only the contents of the Folders.0 -
Okay, I have found the heavy weight stuff in the 'users' file.
I have moved all my documents and am in the process of moving music and pics to D drive.
I am just wondering if there is any reason why I can't move the whole 'users' file to the d drive? I am the only user, if that makes a difference?

Yes, most of them are backed up on an external hard drive - but it doesn't make sense for the smaller c drive to be holding all this stuff with the larger d drive empty?I'm a retired employment solicitor. Ah! I did move the whole folder of documents and the whole folder of music!
So now what? Presumably I delete the folders that I have moved off the D drive, then open new folders on that drive and move the contents only from the c drive into the new folder?I'm a retired employment solicitor. I hope that you have followed my instructions.
Don't move the Folders....only the contents of the Folders.
Go into the folder and then press Ctrl and whilst holding it down press A. Then right click on any file and choose 'Copy'. That should copy all of the files in that folder. You can them Paste them into the corresponding folder on the
drive. 0 -

Did you actually read my instructions?? I wrote move the contents.
So are the folders still on the C: drive, or not?
Don't presume anything. You presumed before and....0 -
Yes, sorry I had done it before I read your later instructions but no harm done as I haven't actually deleted anything yet!
Thanks for all the advice - I have to go out now, but I will follow your instructions to the letter when I get back!
I still dont understand why all this stuff is being saved to the c drive when the larger d drive is practically empty, though
