You should plan for things like this.

Don't you have enough money to at least get a cheap return bus journey? No need to stay overnight I assume and if there is look into hostels, relatives or something.

If that's not good enough you'll not be going.

    Helpful!

I guess anyone who's never had to manage on £50.95 if under 25, and £64.30 for over 25's, couldn't possibly understand how difficult it is to manage, never mind 'plan for something like this'. Like the death of a beloved relative. 'You'll not be going', hard hearted or what?

OP if you don't get good advice here or from DWP (surely you must be able to get a social loan or something?), urgently contact the CAB, I'm sure they'll be able to put you in touch with a charity that could help. Failing that, whethr religious or not, I'm sure a church would help.

I'm so sorry for your loss and so sorry that there is so little support from the state or even those kind hearted, helpful types who frequent forums that ask us 'no such thing as a stupid question .... be nice to everyone.'
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.
