Beware Tesco Offers.

I bought 2 blocks of cheese last week. They have been on 2 for £5 for ages but the labels were no longer present, except for a sticker on the tray that they came in. When I got home I noticed that I had been charged £3.86 each, so I contacted Tesco and was told that someone would get back in touch with me shortly. Nobody did, so when I was in getting my shopping this week, I queried it at customer services. She wouldn't act on it as I didn't have the proof, so I went into store and luckily they had 1 tray with the offer left. I took it to customer services and she told me that as it was over a week ago, then I couldn't get a refund, so I told her it was just under a week. She ended up giving me the price for one of the blocks of cheese back but I had to push for that.0

DTD is a bribe to stop you from reporting them to TS. I would report them anyway as they do not like TS sniffing around and maybe the store manager would get a good kick up the butt.0

We have o go back over to Dingwall tomorrow so I'll send OH in as he's really good at stuff like that & I tend to get a bit sharp voiced if I feel wronged - He's charming.0

I've just noticed a new Tesco TV ad, it doesn't even mention price or value, just quality and freshness. Perhaps they're finally realising how expensive they've become. It's been a while since they've been able to promote their levels of customer service.0

What I do when I'm over-charged (it happens often in my local Tesco), the staff usually go to the appropriate shelf and I go too - making sure they can't remove shelf labels.
Why did your OH spend so long at Customer Services?
Why didn't he insist they went to look at the shelf where the cat food was reduced?
I always ask for DTD, it's rarely offered.
I've never been refused but one member of staff always says 'OK, I can do DTD on this item', I think she just likes to get the last word in.
I always, always, always check my receipt before leaving the store.0 -
Pollycat - My OH waited while the staff went & checked the shelf & they were confused so they went back again. He didn't leave the store - he went to customer services with the trolley & receipt. They did refund the difference but still appeared unsure as there were a few offers on & he said they seemed unsure because what they said didn't match up with what the till was scanning. The queue was stacking up & time was getting away with itself as a supervisor was called to attempt to sort it out - we did get a refund but not DTD which I hadn't heard of.0

That's why I go back with them.
Presumably you bought the cat food because of what the shelf label said.
They should have checked that against what you were charged on the recipt and if it was different, confusion ends (as far as the customer is concerned).
Tesco either have a problem with shelf labels being wrong (maybe not removed after an offer have expired) or their tills are programmed wrongly.
Either way, not the customer's fault.
I don't think I said anything about your OH leaving the store.0 -
I would deffo go back or email them about the lack of customer service.0

I always check my receipts now, having been overcharged numerous times (mostly by the Co-op, but also Tesco and Morrisons). It is not uncommon at all, nor is the snotty attitude of the staff when you point it out to them. You'd think it was taken from their wages, the way some of them act. I'm not rude or loud either when I tell them, so there's no excuse for them to be so churlish.
Was also overcharged by a local DIY shop this week and when we pointed out the discrepancy between the SEL and what we were charged, the woman looked at us like we were dog turds on her shoe and said, "well that's what it's scanning at!".
Glad you posted this OP, because I also thought Tesco didn't do DTD anymore. Now I know betterLove the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -
or their tills are programmed wrongly.
This is what we believe as I've said the till was spitting out/scanning & printing out unreduced prices. The confusion on the staff's part was that there were several items & varieties above the shelf that had the offer notice & they couldn't quite grasp that the till was wrong.
I always, always, always check my receipt before leaving the store.
Yes, so do we usually.
