Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday October 23rd. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Finally getting my act together and think I have now got the right day of the year!!!
Beth - hoping it has been a progressive night but sometimes it is quite normal to have a long gap between the waters breaking and the start of labour. I really hope she gets the birth she wants as i used to do a lot of hypno births and they were always very peaceful xx
Not sure what is on the agenda for me today. I fell asleep at about 7.30 last night and woke with a start around 4ish the morning. Im feeling a little under par (hence my silly mistakes) so think another cup of tea is in order for me.
Hugs for a good day xx

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Good morning Mollie and all who follow. Thinking of you Beth, and hoping all is well.
The busiest day of the week ahead of me. Our large joint of beef is already in the bottom of the oven cooking ever so, ever so gently and should be just right when we get back from the last morning service, for the oven to be zapped up for roasties etc. When I have finished here I will only have to prepare some veg and iron a skirt. I always wear a skirt on Sundays, a hangover from the days when we all wore our 'Sunday Best' I suppose. Last night I made two large Sticky Toffee puddings for our 'Drop-In' centre tonight and they only need the toffee sauce poured over them later on. That's me done for the day housework-wise.
It's still dark here so I've no idea what the weather is doing but we've been promised a dry warm day, not that I'll see much of it.
I do hope that those of you who can will be able to have a restful day, and yes, I can hear the hollow laughter of those dealing with difficult and hectic situations. I do think of you all throughout the day and wonder how you are all coping. Particularly NPM, you are somehow stuck in my head, I often stop what I am doing and send you loving thoughts, probably not much help to you but it's all I can do.
Blessings to everyone.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts, and thank you Monnogran for thinking of me.
Still cannot shift this cold at all:o totally fed up of it, feel awful. This is when I wish my mum lived nearer so she could help a bit:(
Ironing building up, Roast chicken dinner to make with DHs help.
Going to snuggle and watch Home Alone with DS later.
Can anyone recommend ways of keeping colds away as I can`t cop with this all winter ...was looking at Mannuka honey...but does it work? It is expensive for the high grade stuff:eek:....and does it tste stronger as am not big honey fan tbh?
Still trawling through the literature about DS sensory probs. Not going out much, just trying to keep it all contained and life running smoothly as poss.
Hope Betheebee DD has managed during the night:D, I was going to have home birth but couldn`t n the end....just as well, wouldn`t fncy over 11lb getting stuck at home:eek:lol0 -
Morning all, before and after!
It's getting darker and darker in the mornings and I have two frustrated cats who aren't allowed out till the streetlights go out ...
Today's a day of rest with Church this evening but I know some of you will be busy, busy so am sending energetic thoughts your way. My plan is to have a quick run through the house to make sure it isn't too much of a tip come tomorrow and then I shall snuggle down on the couch with my book.
Take care, everyone.Household: Laura + William-cat

Morning all
Molly, I hope things are looking up for you.
Beth, Fingers crossed for a speedy delivery.
Monnagran, lovely thoughts,
NPM, Hugs, hugs & more hugs.
I've woken up with tooth/jaw ache again, life's getting a bit stressful round here & so I'm sleeping with my teeth clenched, hence the pain, it wears off once I wake up.
Still onwards & upwards, I've been rearranging the kitchen surfaces to accommodate yet another recycling container from the local council, this time it's a caddy for food items, I already have one for compostable food waste that is mine, so I now have 2 bins, 2 boxes, a bag & 2 caddys, aargh. There won't be room to cook in there soon.
I bought a piece of pork yesterday, it was only £3.56, I cooked it in the remoska & ended up with crispy crackling & loads of dripping, hubby had a roast pork baguette yesterday & today I'll serve it with roast potatoes & veg, carrots & cabbage from the garden.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

NPM - I remember someone here saying to suck zinc tablets - but they had to be sucked to clear a cold.
Im aching again today - worse than yesterday and I've been trying to think what might have set it of. Had a chinese on thursday night and I'm wondering if there was a high salt content (made me thirsty) which triggers water retention which makes my joints ache! I have some water tablets so might try those today.
Dinner today is the beef cassersole i did in the slow cooker yesterday with either roasties or mash and veg. Not sure whether the twins are here for dinner today but there's enough if they do...in the 3 weeks they've been gone I've only managed to cook one meal with no leftovers - can't get used to cooking for less!
Hope everyone has they day they want xClimbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness

Morning all,
Well it's been a quiet night here no word from SiL2b on DD's progress. Suppose no news is good news, I hope their tucked up in their own bed.
MOLLY, Not many have heard of hypno birthing, even when DD had DGD1 the MW confused it with hydro birthing, MW wouldn't belive DD when she rang to say the birth was iminent, MW assumed that because she wasn't screaming in pain that she had a long time to go, the MW finally got to DD 14mns before DGD was born, your right it was a very peaceful pain free birth. DD was cooking b/fast 45mns later.
I'm hoping this one goes as well as the first.
I'm not sure what to do about their 2 Labradors, do I go and let them out or not ? If DD is sleeping I don't want to disturb her, if they're at hospital they will need letting out. I wont know if they're there or not because their car is always parked in the garage. Oh what to do !!
As DH & I got up early we have prept all veg and put the beef in the oven on low making enough for all 5 of us. BM & WM on for the 2nd time. DGD & DH have had egg on toast and yogurt for b/fast. I'm hoping to make a start on DD's ironing later, our mountain will have to wait. Someone must be smiling down on me as I've been pain free since y/day morn, I belive that all wishes and kind thoughts from all friends on here have also had a hand in it. You are a smashing bunch, wouldn't be without you. Bless yah all. :A
MONNAGRAM, What a lovely thing to do, helping with the drop in centre, your a star. I thought your post was lovely also, read it a couple of times.
NPM, good to see you on here again, hope life gets easier for you.
Hope it's a good day for all. x0 -

Good morning everyone.
Very bright here today, chilly though. No plans as such for today, don't really feel up to it. Didn't have a great nights sleep. Will take the dog for a walk at some stage with dh, fresh air might do me good.
Dinner is chicken with all of the usual veg. We have still got alot of veg in the freezer from the allotment, so that helps.
NPM, hope you feel better soon. It really does take it out of you.
Beth, hope your dd is ok and wish her a speedy delivery.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.
