We dont have children but i wouldnt let them use an electric blanket would be worried that they would play with the control or the bit that conects the blanket to the control.
I have an electric blanket but i am a bit nervous of it i never would leave it on when I am asleep.
When I was a kid my Gran used to use a "belling bedwarmer" it was a disc shaped thing that plugged in and warmed the bed all the rage in the 1960`s and 1970`s she had it with the original lead that she had on it when she bough it in the 60`s until she died 5 years ago:eek: but did warm the bed and it was taken out before you got in, oh childhood memories lol :rotfl:
Lol i remember those, think they were light pink0 -

Any ideas or recommendations???
Was the blanket safety tested before you bought and started using it?That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I am another who is a bit wary of electric blankets after the tale of my Mother's setting on fire once and my Grandmother having to throw it out of the window! My Mum came back late one night and found it smouldering in the back garden
That said, it didn't put my grandmother off and she used them for years afterwards. I remember when i was little sleeping over at their big old (and non-heated) house and getting into a warm bed after the elec blanket had been on- heaven! I am too chicken to use one myself though, so stick to hot water bottles0 -
How about a memory foam mattress topper? We have a 1" one on our spare bed, and it really helps keep you warm. We got in poundstretcher for £20 a few months ago. I am sure there are cheaper ones on ebay? The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0

I certainly DO know how to make up a hot water bottle sheesh, some people are such nit pickers on this forum these days.
I beg your pardon if I have offended you but I was directing it at people in general. I do not consider it nitpicking when the safety of children is at stake. If just one person reads what I wrote and starts filling their child's hot water bottle the RIGHT way from now on, a child may be saved from being scalded, so I think it's more than worth pointing out.0
