Only you can know if your kids are worth it.... but I should think they are!
.... as far as electric blankets go, if you make a point of putting them onto the lowest setting when the children go to bed it won't matter if you forget to turn them off as e/blankets these days are perfectly safe to leave on all night. If you feel my comments are helpful then I'd love it if you 'Thanked' me!0 -
You could also plug the blanket into a timer so they will automatically turn off after a certain time, then your covered even if you do forget.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I don't have children so can't say whether I would use one for them or not... but my last electric blanket had a timer, so it would switch itself off after X hours - think it was a choice of 1, 2, 4 or 8. Or you could plug in a cheap timer to the wall, as PP suggested.0

I personally would not get a second hand electric blanket for my daughter. If I felt she needed one I would buy her a new one. I think that you do have to be very careful with electrical items. Not very os I know, but just my personal opinion. xFootball Widow :footie:

If I was going to purchase something like this I wouldn't be getting second hand nor cheap. i would buy new from a reputable store and check the safety marks.
Saying that, I don't and won't have an electric blanket for my children's beds. I do however, get them all toasty by using a hotwater bottle. Much more peace of mind for me.0 -
Always used one for my son. He knew not to touch the controls. The ones we have have a setting which means they go off after 1hr 15 mins. I find putting a fleece on top of the sheet so you are lying on it it very cosy, much more so than flannel sheets and they can go in the washing machine without the need to strip the bed. They dry really quickly as well. If you are getting leccy blankets, I agree they should be new not secondhand. You will rest easier knowing the children are safe. What price peace of mind for your children?:D0

As this is more families related, ive moved it to the families board to see what the consensus is over here.

No personally I wouldn't touch an electric blanket with a barge pole for me, so definatley not for the kids, but then I have seen the horror of an electric blanket fire
I have bought those wheatbag bed beddies for mine, they have 2 each so I microwave them and stick them in the bed about 5 -10 mins before they get in!0 -
I dont want to put my heating on yet either and Ive found putting a hot water bottle in the bed about half an hour before getting in it works wonders!0
