I'm a size 22 and am getting married in March, it wasn't as bad as I thought to get a dress in my size, most shops stock larger sizes but not a great selection, but I went to about 5 different shops and found my ideal dress in one of them for about £700, had to travel to Bristol from Gloucester but it was worth it for the bigger selection they stocked, I also ordered a dress from China without a train which I can change into in the evening, I gave the design ideas and my exact measurements and it was made perfectly for around £200, I personally wasn't going to risk getting my actual wedding dress by this method but must admit I was very pleasantly surprised at the dress and it would be more than suitable for a wedding.
I'm also dieting before my fitting for alterations, but luckally most dresses are corset backs so can allow for adjustment.

p.s. my biggest problem with my size was getting the strapless underwear!! I have ended up adapting a gok wan corset and its perfect0 -
