    me again... :j
Have been looking at the Talk Talk offer, effectively the broadband is £5pm (you have to take a phone line with them though)

On their website, under the comparison section, they state that they do not restrict speed based on download usage, although they do have a download limit of 40GB.

How true is that statement? What would happen if I went over 40GB then?

More importantly, how does this compare to my legacy o2 package?

    TIA

What happens if I go over the download allowance?

If you do go over the limit, we will let you know via an email or letter. Don't worry if it is a once off, but if you exceed the limit again in the following six months, we will give you another notification. If you go over again, it means your usage is probably typically likely to be more than 40 GB per month and we will automatically upgrade you to our Mega Download Boost. If this happens, and you think you are unlikely to go over the 40 GB in a month again, you can unsubscribe whenever you want via My Account.

Rubbish. I can't believe that your are even considering TalkTalk when you are on an O2 legacy broadband package at a good price! You can never go back on this package if you leave and TalkTalk is definately a step in the wrong direction.

With Talk Talk you gotta ask yourself "Do I feel lucky".

I only personally know one person with TalkTalk - my ex daughter-in-law. She's just got her ADSL working again after a 7 week outage. Nothing particularly difficult to solve - it was a busted router. Why did it take 7 weeks? Who knows? With TalkTalk anything can happen. Mostly the sort of stuff Forrest Gump warned about.

Could you expand on that please. What are the core differences between the 2 packages (customer services aside). The price is fairly similar.

I though they were comparable packages in terms of what you get - speed/DL limit. Not sure how the traffic management compares though

My retention deal on o2 means I pay £6.95 though I doubt they will still offer that to me when my contract is up for renewal in the new year.

    Talk Talk is £5pm.

How can a traffic managed, download limited service possibly be better? - even if the price is similar!

O2 will give six months free for a further 12 month commitment even on their old legacy packages - confirmed recently here.

TalkTalk customer service is pathetic to say the least - they expect you to log into their forum to get help, which is really helpful when you have no broadband.

If you want the cheapest then go with TalkTalk but you will regret switching from your old O2 legacy package if you value good reliable broadband!
