Perhaps its because the correct answer to your question is probably dependent on your annual usage?

    Period.

PS I'm still chuckling at "EDF have excellent customer service". Thanks to whoever it was who posted that, best laugh I've had all week.

If I go to a fueling station that is selling petrol for £1.35 a ltr. The price will not change if I tell them my annual usage. It will still be £1.35 a ltr.

If you go in a shop and buy a bottle of wine for £4.00, the price is £4.00. Your annual consumption will have no bearing on the price of the wine.
  • If you don't know your annual usage and all you want to know is the cheapest price per kWh then use a comparison site. Select standard tariff as your present tariff and invent an annual consumption. Say 20000kWh gas and 3500kWh electricity.

When the list comes up check trhough each one and note the cost per unit of each fuel.

If you don't like entering annual usage just visit the website of every supplier and note their prices.

    Have fun.

OK Hubb, carry on in your ignorant bliss then. If you can be bothered to do the work yourself though you will find out that the best deal for you IS dependent on your annual usage. No apology will be neccessary when you discover this (if you ever do that is).
  • as i said a week ago - the most accurate way for comparing different companies is by using your own annual figures - whilst different companies publish there tariffs (and price per unit) , the best value depends on your own figures - if your a low gas user but high electric user (like i am) company A might be the cheapest , yet , if your a low gas and low electric user - company B could be cheaper.

the published tariffs dont show the whole picture - hence why you should compare using your own annual figures.

EDF come up top in the comparison for Energyhelpline and N Power in U Switch. I have been with N Power in the past and wasn't that impressed. All through the year I have been in credit with EDF and still am. I have even claimed back £242 this year as I was in credit by so much. All the comparisons show a higher rate than I am currently paying with DEF.

" I just want to know if it's worth me asking if I stay with them, will they freeze my prices as they are still the most competitive ? "

I am just trying to understand why you posed your original question?

Most posters gave you excellent advice regarding the need to input Kwh consumption into comparison websites. You made an incorrect statement regarding EDF's customer Service and have generally dismissed posters advice and input.

You have put great store in the credit balance on your account but it is irrelevant.

Finally you have used a comparison site using (what?) to arrive at a conclusion of EDF,which you seemed adamant about from the outset.

What advice did you actually want? :o
  • edf customer service is as variable for each customer - some think its great and some like yourself think is appaling - but each to there own experience.
