Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 22nd October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning Morning! My, I am up early today!! (and can't find the remote for the telly!) Not sure why, i have just woken, and learnt that if i wake up and feel fine to get up or the rest of the day is a struggle!
So, OH and pup are at work today, whilst i am off to my dads with a friend for the night to cat sit. We are going to have pizza, wine and x factor.
Need to sort the house out before i leave, so try get a few loads of washing done, and clean the rooms, quite nip round iwth the vacuum.
I have lifted a beef joint out for dinner tomorrow, but OH needs to fend for himself tonight.
Have a lovely day all

Good morning Bramble1 and to those who follow.
Have been up for a while too. Am not feeling great, am coming down with a cold and a sore throat. So much of it going around. Want to get the shopping out of the way early as well.
Chilly here again. Don't think we had a frost, too dark to see from the window.
Tea tonight is chilli and jackets. Will get that in the sc soon.
Bramble1, i hope you have a lovely evening cat sitting.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

My goodness! 2 days now I've stuck to my resolution of 'wake up, get up.' My first caffeine injection is in front of me and the WM is doing its stuff. The computer in the meantime has decided that before 9.00am is much to early to work and freezes every couple of minutes and takes quite a few seconds to respond to every click of the mouse. Well, I know just how it feels.
Am about to make porridge for breakfast, very much a winter thing for me but gorgeous with golden syrup. I can almost see the shudders ripple through every reader north of the border. Sorry my friends, salt just doesn't do it for me.
Then off to visit my local butcher to replenish our meat stocks. We buy 2 very large joints, 1 pork and 1 beef, cook them both slowly, let them get cold and slice them very thinly. Then we divide them into portions, enough for a meal for 2 of us, wrap each portion in foil, (with a little of the meat stock), and freeze. This gives us a roast dinner a week for at least 4 months. It's eye wateringly expensive to buy the meat but saves in the long run and gives us time to save up for the next batch.
Apart from that its just a bit of cleaning and ironing today. Might make some biscuits, had workmen here last week so the cookie jar is empty.
Have a lovely weekend if you can and lots of love to those who are suffering.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning Bramble1, forever saving and everyone else
Quite mild here this morning, and dry, so can peg out washing.
Been up since oh-my-God o'clock, but at least all the washing up's done and spag bol sauce is simmering ready for tea - I'm working and finish too late to do it at teatime. Need to pop into town for a few bits, change littlies' beds and do a food stocktake before work.
My sister's bought a SC, so I'm going to ask what she thinks of it - I'm still dithering over what brand to get. I need a big one, but all my friends who have one have different makes and different experiences - not a lot of help!
Have a good Saturday, folks, hugs and kisses if you need 'em.

Morning everyone,
I am so glad that it is half term!:D
WM is on and I am just writing my to do list for the next week, it is going to be quite expensive as DS and DD1 both need school shoes and DD2 need a school coat.
Meal plan also needs to be written for the week but I find that things tend to go a bit haywire in the holidays so the plan will end up being a guide.
Nice quiet day today. I have to fetch DD1 from her sleepover but then the children can take themselves to their guitar and ballet lessons. I am going to see a friend this pm who has had a really serious operation, I was going to go last week but she got an infection and was really ill, fortunately the antibiotics have worked and she is on the mend.
Tea tonight will be pork chops and I think that I will make a blackberry and apple crumble.
Hugs to all those who are poorly or worried or upset.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning all...
Its abit chilly here this morning, resisted the urge to put the heating on though..
WM needs emptying & reloading along with the DW so will sort them in a mo & have a quick clean around
I think DS and I will have a craft afternoon, want to have a go at making a Christmas garland, some tree decorations and a Halloween costume so that should keep us busy!
Dinner tonight is selection of HM pizzas with Garlic bread.
Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday.... xOctober grocery Challenge

Morning everyone
Easing myself into the day, one cup of coffee down plenty more to go
Need to feed myself and the kids in a mo. H has gone off for a run.
Got a day of family today, brother and SIL and kids coming lunchtime and early evening H's family all coming round for visit as BIL is over from Norfolk.
I need to finish off gaggle blanket for friend and bit of housework. There is a mountain of ironing as H did the bare minimum last week and I've not had time to do any  also need to make some cinnammon buns too this morning
Tea will be HM pizza.
Hugs and spoons all round. Have a great day OS or not.

Morning all,
Been awake a while, but been in bed reading my book, warmest place in the house, dry and bright here today, with a good breeze, so wm is doing its thing, will get it on the line today.
Had a good evening on Ebay, and once everyone has paid we should have enough to get a new computer, the other one is still alive, but only just, so the sooner the better really.
OH has gone off to the boot sale, and dd still in bed, so all peaceful here, tacos for dinner tonight, nice easy tea for a saturday. I think dd is off to the fair tonight, so she will have to wrap up warm.
Still no heating here, and I have gone from keeping the bedroom window shut all night cos the birds wake me up early, to having it wide open all night, its bliss to have the cold breeze coming in, and being all warm and cosy in bed
Another 2 loads to put through the wm, need to hoover top to bottom, and have a gneral tidy, but with 2 willing helpers it wont take long.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
Clear, bright and sun trying to get out, looks like another sunny day but it's really chilly. DH up and off to work at early o'clock but not stupid early so got up and had a cuppa with him before he left. He wasn't going to work today but got offered it and we don't like to say no whilst it's on offer, have a friend coming over later to help get the greenhouse base finished - hopefully by tonight greenhouse will be in position and screwed down to the base - woop woop! That's another job to cross off the rather long list! :T
Dinner last night was chicken topped with stuffing and wrapped in bacon, mash, peas and mushrooms with gravy - yummy. Dinner tonight I'm not too sure, have got gammon steaks in the fridge, fish in the freezer so will depend on what time the menfolk get the greenhouse finished. Did food shopping yesterday and spent rather more than I wanted but did get ingredients needed to make my Xmas cake and pudding, needed rum/brandy for soaking the fruit and some to put in cake, couldn't believe how much a small bottle was. Bought a nice joint of pork for roast tomorrow - so will be prepping all the veg before taking DS1 to rugby in the morning. Took DS1 to MrT after school yesterday and managed to buy 2 x pairs of school trousers and a jacket went through self-scan and total came up as £30 - thought this wasn't too bad, but then till recalculated total, they are doing 25% off menswear so nice bit of discount! (bit miffed though coz also had a £5 off if you spend £25 or more on clothes and couldn't find the voucher).
Didn't get any baking done yesterday so will be getting a shower shortly, then brekkie, walk to the paper shop then doing a bit of baking once I return.
Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, keep safe and well xxx

Morning all
We've had a very lazy start to the day here as hubby & I went to the Hexagon to see High Tease by the Ministry of Burlesque, the costumes were fantastic, corsets, stockings, teeny tiny hats, killer heels & brocade waistcoats & that was just the audience. I'd have gone dressed up if I'd have known. The show was very good, very funny too, I said to hubby that I'd expected more titillation, he being a bit deaf replied 'Well there 3 pairs though they did have tassels on'
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester
