Which she got because her mum died. Though I guess some people would prefer the cash.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
You said in a preious thread that you had £20,000 in savings and have been living off that...no benefits etc.,??
By my reckoning that means you'e lived off £6000 for 3 years...Surely thats virtually impossible if not claiming benefits, not working, and with children to support too??0 -
She will still get her child benefit and child tax credits. Just no JSA, HB and CTB.You said in a preious thread that you had £20,000 in savings and have been living off that...no benefits etc.,??

Please, spend some time and maybe some money on English lessons. I don't usually mention people's spelling and grammar, but seriously, yours is really bad. You'll never get a job writing like you do.
Oh Please not everyone can afford a nice private tory education and some people have this thing called dyslexia, besides which being a grammer nazi on an internet forum is one of the cheapest and most pathetic shots out there. You really couldn't come up with anything better?
I suppose you get lazy when your born with a silver spoon in your mouth and everything is handed to you on a plate much like your beloved tory leader 'one of the lads' Dave. :rotfl:0 -
I thought most people were being helpfull!
Yes claim but you can't get the 'full' amount while having savings over £6k spending £1000s in a short amount of time isn't seen as good in the eyes of the jc and they may not grant you the benefit so others have said.0 -

So many on here will have people believe that it is wrong to claim everything you are entitled to.
You could have millions in the bank, be unemployed and provided you have the right amount of NI contributions in the right years, claim JSA for 6 months.
I do wish these morons that try to put people off claiming a benefit move over onto another forum that specialises in the hate of all benefit claimants!
I think the words that I have highlighted are key.
If someone is entitled to a benefit, then yes of course they should claim.
I have had some 'stick' from certain posters on here asking about benefits (for my recently widowed Mum) who couldn't seem to grasp the meaning of the word 'entitled'.
We weren't going to lie about her financial situation, we weren't going to 'bend the truth', we weren't going to 'hide' money - I just wanted advice.
Instead I got some posters telling me she should live off her (and Dad's) savings - which wasn't the point of my question at all.
If she was/is entitled to benefits, then we will claim.
This for me, says it all.
I, however, do have a problem with people looking for advice on how to commit benefit fraud - which (imho) the OP is not trying to do.as long as you meet the rules for claiming then claim.
So, to get back on topic:
OP
do you have an answer to your question?0 -
i wasn't going to hide any money from them as soon as i got the money that my mum left me, i came off income support and told them why and how much i had.
i was just worried about cliaming jsa i've never cliamed the benefit before and never signed on.
and yes my grammer may not be very good but i didn't ask for help with that and don't know what that has to do with anyone else but me .
but thanks to the people that helped . to the rest its nothing to do with them they don't have to answer ,0 -
im not getting a job in a school '
and its still nothing to do with you0
