    Check your Firewall or Spyware blocker settings, it sounds like its being blocked

    try a "repair" install first if you have files you want to keep, otherwise a full format and fresh install

    Right i have just done a full reinstall and i still cannot sign in to ebay, msn messenger, windows update and i think my email is playing up too..
    HELP!!!!!!!!

    Sounds like a router prob then :) Try a different router or a direct connection

    Right finally getting somewhere, i can connect to ebay , messenger etc when i use a direct connection so the problem seems to be in my router.
    I did a factory reset on it and that hasnt done any good.
    The router i am using is a inexq wiadslr04.
    Any ideas please?

    Forgot to mention..i am on tiscali 2mg and rang their technical helpline, they said the error was not due to any fault in the service

    Anyway try a firmware upgrade for your model of router! If that fails, new router time!
