Recorded or special delivery?
I have to post my cashback claim this week to CoolNewMobile. Is it worth paying for Special Delivery (£4+) to get the compensation insurance (would they pay out on mobile cashbacks as a result of their failure to deliver/get the delivery signed for?), or would Recorded Delivery (68p+stamp) suffice?
Another thing: I'm sending both mine and my girlfriend's claims - I'm putting them in separate named envelopes within one big envelope. Shouldn't be a problem with that, should there? It's very very clear what's in each envelope.

In my experience, you would be better paying the extra for Special Delivery. I have had recorded items go missing in the past and Royal Mail aren't the most helpful of companies to deal with when this happens. Sometimes they don't bother to get the signature, or they sign it themselves. Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0

I've sent about 7 or 8 separate claims (for different family members) to cnm by recorded delivery and not once had any problem and always receive emails from them when the claim is in their system. Personally I don't think it's worth the extra expense of special delivery when recorded is fine, and I doubt if royal mail cover the consequential loss for special delivery anyway.
But do send them in separate envelopes!0 -
Don't send in one envelope - some operators say they will only process one and bin the other! You also would have only one tracking code, giving them the opportuntiy to try and wriggle out of paying (I think many retailers now ask if you send recorded - if you say no, they say they haven't received it - seems like it could be a policy with some companies but do not know about CNM).
I send Special Delivery with consequential loss - slightly more but worth it if the paperwork goes missing and you cannot then claim.

I decided to claim my cashback from phoneboxdirect using special delivery with consequential loss and I am beginning to think it was the best thing i could have done! I posted my second claim on the 17th and it was due to be delivered before 1pm on the 18th. I have been checking online and it hasnt been delivered yet  I phoned Royal Mail on saturday to be told that she doesnt know where my letter is but thinks it might have been delayed due to 'the windy weather' Some guaranteed service.. yes madam, we guarantee to deliver you letter for the princely sum of £5.35... unless of course it is windy, wet, sunny ect ect  Anyway, if my letter is lost at least I can claim my money from them instead! It makes you wonder what consideration they give to letters sent by recorded mail if they cant even deliver their special delivery items!
HTH you make your decision!

Always pay the extra few pounds for special delivery. Recorded will usually work but it's not given the same treatment as special. If it goes missing you stand to lose ALL of your cashback and you'll probably get nothing more than a book of stamps from RM.
Don't send two claims in one envelope. It might seem like a trivial thing for them to do both envelopes but remember cashback companies are there to try and wriggle out of paying you. Cool New Mobile's terms and conditions say they will only process one claim per envelope so they're well in their rights to throw one of the claims in the bin and they can also choose to refuse all future claims.0 -
Always use special delivery when I claim.
You get a scanned copy of the signature if you check your item once delivered on the Royal Mail website.
Never had any problems via e2save or The Link.0 -
CoolNewMobile have replied to my e-mail and said that if each claim is in its own envelope within a larger envelope, this is absolutely fine.0
