I love my mum and dad very very much (but I'm really a daddy's girl) but we never use the "L" word to each other and we never ever give spontaneous hugs etc. I know they love me, so they don't have to say it and they show me in a million different ways every week.

That's exactly like us - I say the 'L' word more in passing with mum, but generally we demonstrate through actions....a clip round the ear is a sign of affection, isn't it??

However, I tell my DD's all the time how much I love them, I never leave for work without hugging them and telling them that and they still go to bed with a goodnight kiss and a 'Love you' even when we could happily strangle each other.

*sigh* that's lovely. I do the same with my real and "adopted" (kids of friends) niblings.

Hello again Ms Knitty,

I've not completely caught up on your diary yet, but I am half way through and getting there. It's all very entertaining and inspiring so far, and you are part of the group inspiring me to learn crochet! So thanks for that.

I just wanted to throw my tuppence in (scramble ), on the skills swapping idea you mentioned for Christmas (fantastic idea). If any of you are looking to learn make up skills then youtube is a fantastic place to go for that. I look like Aunt Sally in make up or something resembling a poorly advised drag queen which means that when i see someone made up and looking stunning I have to ask them how they manage it. The majority of those people tell me they learned it from youtube. There are a couple of very highly respected arteeeests on there and if anyone is interested in the ones I've been recommended they can pm me.

Can't believe you're trudging through all of this....even I don't trudge back through it very often!! I feel I should offer you something for the sheer endurance - choccie?
