Grocery spend continues to be my nemisis
Mine too! I've literally had to force myself not to go shopping today - I don't need anything, and could easily make it to Thursday or even Friday by using what's in the freezer and the cupboards, so that's what I'm trying to do.
Speaking of which....baked potato, veggie fingers and fresh broccoli on the menu tonight. Ooo, and I'm pretty sure there's some puds and pots of custard in that cupboard over there....mwahahaha!0 -

Ovetime payments...NSDs... and (*deep intake of breath*) using up old toiletries. I can't believe how fast your total is falling.
Keep this up; it is making me feel all competitive and spurring me on:T

I realised the other day that I've almost run out of shampoo - am currently using up my last trial sized bottle so desperately hoping that one of the survey companies needs shampoo testing soon, or I'll have to pop in to the poundshop for a cheap one. I've loads of really nice conditioners left so figure I can do cheap for one while I have posh for the other.
I really really hate all the faff with renting, fees being paid out all over the place, and the fact that you have to decide if you're staying or going 2 months before the end of the contract. We're hoping that we like the house enough to stay in it for a couple of years by which time we might think we're grown up enough to get married and move in to an infinately cheaper Married Quarter (although chances of either of us growing up that much in such a short space of time are slim). Just looking forward to January when we'll get the deposit back from the flat to offset some of the costs (and inevitable credit card bill). It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Have had enough of renting too...6 weeks without hot water grrrrrrrrrrrr........spent all afternoon watching some inept teenager (well looked like one) huff and puff and swear at ancient boiler before sloping off at 7pm leaving us without heating as well ((sobs into pint of Guinness and wipes nose on galaxy wrapper))
Seriously considering taking the plunge and creeping onto the property ladder, we shall see.
On a happier note, I knitted myself a smashing pair of pensioner-style booties this afternoon, very warm they are too on my 37 year old feet'Forget injuries, never forget kindnesses' - Confucious0 -

Last night I lined everthing up on the 8' ledge in the bathroom...and now I'm scared to go back in there, as it's clearly all looking at me.
What's become very clear is that I'll be wearing facemasks daily for the next year, painting my nails, your nails and everyone else's until we all shuffle off the mortal coil - and I've enough body cream to re-moisturise all the leather in the world......(although chances of either of us growing up that much in such a short space of time are slim).
Pah! Just pretend....Northern_Lassy wrote: »Have had enough of renting too...6 weeks without hot water grrrrrrrrrrrr........spent all afternoon watching some inept teenager (well looked like one) huff and puff and swear at ancient boiler before sloping off at 7pm leaving us without heating as well
Demand a rent rebate - seriously. Without the basic utilities, the place isn't habitable. If you want a more professional opinion, nip over the the rent etc forum and ask for their advice. On a happier note, I knitted myself a smashing pair of pensioner-style booties this afternoon, very warm they are too on my 37 year old feet
Not 'pensioner-style'....'vintage' dahhhhling, vintage. Most impressed!
I finished knitting the terminator shrug last night - minor miracle given how often I've undone the damn thing. Off to knitting class with it this evening as I can't remember (and the instructions are naff) how to sew it up.0 -
Morning 'Verse
I wanted to say a big :kisses3: to you all (I'd have gone with the group hug smilie, but it looks a little disturbing, don't you think?).
Anyway, you continue to be a massive support and inspiration to me in changing my ways - and I think it's about time you had another general pat on the back and a smug moment for being fab.....go on....just for a moment...there you go. You're smiling aren't you? Always nice to be appreciated.
Interesting that I find this all helps me in other ways too - for example:Knitting_Nora wrote: »Speaking of which....baked potato, veggie fingers and fresh broccoli on the menu tonight. Ooo, and I'm pretty sure there's some puds and pots of custard in that cupboard over there....mwahahaha!
What's truly amazing is that I actually have a tiny appetite - I just keep forgetting. I'm really much better when I have small portions (think sarnie with one slice of bread, or handful of nuts or cheese) but regularly throughout the day...yes, I'm a grazer...go on, let it out! :rotfl:
So thinking on this last night, I set the baked potato aside and will reheat it this evening (lunch is on a friend - not literally! That's yucky! What are you like??).
....of course, appetite size didn't enter the debate when it came to pudding and custard...still feeling very full this morning...;)
....of course, not that feeling full this morning has stopped me having Galaxy minstrels for brekkie this morning.....:)
Today is a spends day - I have ebay items and other bits to lug to the post office, and I have knitting class tonight.
In between, I really need new glass paint and want to trial a different type from my usual - but with MSEness flowing through me these days, I've decided to buy one pot from Hobbycraft today (oh, the expense of that place - seriously, if you love crafts and tend to buy only at HC, try on line....soooo much cheaper, just not instant), and if I like it, I'll buy the rest online through one of the cashback sites...
On that, did I tell you I used quidco for some Christmas shopping on Monday? £5 cashback...fab! :money:
Righto, the kettle is calling - have a good'un.

Ooh, thanks yes, I like the idea of a rebate...I will pootle over to the renty forum in a bit, am a bit wary of some threads as they are a bit scary with trolls:eek:
A seriously hunky man is now attending to my boiler (lucky boiler):D
Have a lovely day everyone x'Forget injuries, never forget kindnesses' - Confucious0 -
Did you get the shrug sewing up sorted out? and NL hope the boiler is sorted soon - that is really :mad::mad: and yes demand a rent rebate!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup
