Lots of sympathy - spent three hours on the terminator shrug while waiting for the car to be serviced and MOT'd this morning...only to discover a "can't ignore it" mistake right back at the start. Haven't the heart to undo it today (well, yesterday according to the clock).i want to do is start knitting my hexipuffs, have you ever used sock needles before? i haven't but need to and i'm not sure how you get it all joined together at the start.
Hexipuffs? Are they those cute little knitted hexagons with wadding or whatever inside? Ooooo, what are you making with them?
Have never used sock needles - I resolutely stick to things which can be knitted flat! If no-one else can help, try you tube - there are some fab tutorials on there for sock knitting (and everything else!).0 -

S'my usual response seconds after I've checked the bank account on payday - followed by intense gloom because for me, it should be plenty, followed by a skip round the shops and the supermarket to make myself feel better. Today, we've ended payday, and I haven't been anywhere near a supermarket.
To be honest, I was expecting a full scale meltdown at this point as it's my last proper wage packet - so getting paid long outstanding overtime is not only a miracle, but has averted full on emotional crisis and much snot dripping from one's nose....
......take a moment for the image to form....there it is....nice....:D
My massive sympathies to you on the moving side (which I'll expect back when I do the same in 8 weeks) - doesn't matter how well you plan it, it's expensive. From scrubbing the old place, to takeaway on the first night in the new place because you've lost the pans or are too tired to cook....be a brave little toaster, and remember that this too shall pass *hands over the vodka*0 -
Morning MSE-verse.
Didn't fall asleep until gone 4am, and was back up again just after 8am (for no good reason)...so my inner sloth was hoping for an easy day. But over the last few days I've signed up for a few challenges, so Slothy isn't getting the rest she hoped for!
I've taken LT's advice and nipped over to the 'no unnecessary toiletries' thread and signed up. Must say, I thought I had lots to get through - but having seen some of the enormous lists on there, I'm comforted that I'm a complete rookie! Anyway, I'm aiming for no new ins this month, and at least 2 items used up.
I've also signed up to the non-spending day challenge - I'm aiming for 10 entire days where I spend nothing.....
So here's what else kept me from insomnia insanity last night/this morning
Monday - kitchen and dining room
level one
[STRIKE]
Clear and wipe work surfaces
[/STRIKE]Level Two
[STRIKE]
Sweep and mop floors
Clean the drawer and filter in the WM
Wipe table and chairs
[/STRIKE]
Level three
[STRIKE]
Clean the kitchen sink and drains
Empty and clean out your bins!
Clean the hob
[/STRIKE]
Personal mission - [STRIKE]find the bottom of the washing-up bowl (via the inside!)[/STRIKE]
Declutter Mission
[STRIKE]
Sort through your tea towels, table clothes, napkins etc and get rid of any you don’t like or use. Check you can find the one you want for Christmas Day whilst you are at it.
[/STRIKE]
And here's what's going to keep me occupied today...all day...well, level one plus a couple of bits from the other levels... at least I've already done the declutter mission!
Tuesday - Living Room, Hall and Stairs, downstair loo
Level 1
Vacuum through the living room, hall and stairs
Level 2
Remove clutter making sure stairs especially are safe
Clean windows and all glass, including the tv screen
Clean the downstairs loo and basin
Level 3
Clean the mantel or coffee table, re home things that don’t belong here
Wipe and water plants
Vacuum or wipe the sofas
Declutter Mission:
[STRIKE]
Sort through all the DVDs, games, CDs etc and see which can be rehomed or sold. Check all the right discs are in their cases. Dust the area and replace them all. Get the family to help and try to get input of ideas for presents, ie somebody saying I love this film – is there a new/similar one out?
[/STRIKE]
Oh, and two sales from ebay - totalling £13.33...more for CC1!
Have a good day.

Sounds like we'll be moving around the same time, I'm off today to pay the first chunk of the fees and deposit - in total we need to find £2600 as well as a months rent out the current flat £750 as we had to move before the lease is up due to Mr S's stupid job making him spend weeks in the middle of a field in winter.
In the meantime I'm supposed to be spending my quiet boy free time cleaning and tidying in the flat ready for the influx of people wanting to view it. Oh and ebaying everything in the spare room as its been there since we moved in so we dont need it (except my giant bag of shoes naturally). It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

I'm moving in with my Grandfather - we're going to keep a beady eye on each other for a few months while he gets back on his feet in his own home (he's been out of it for most of this year), and I get myself sorted. Not looking forward to the move - I hate moving with a passion - but I'm quite looking forward to spending good quality time with the old coot. Some of my things will be stored, some is being sold or sent to charity, and the rest is only fit for the tip. It's already a logistical nightmare!
Doesn't the faff with renting really annoy you? I mean, quite aside from Mr S's job (they do it for fun you know...much larking about....army green wendy houses set up with the tea urn...;)).
And it's so expensive when you start out with each new place. I'm convinced that most of it is a total waste of money - I've been here three years, and never had an inspection, maintenance on the bits they're responsible for (aside from the legal gas checks), or a response when I asked to decorate two walls (did it anyway - alongside repainting the kitchen to cover where the original decorator obviously wandered off for a brew....leaving a 5' x 3' area in the middle of the wall with a single coat over the plaster!).
And I think your giant bag of shoes adds a certain air of style to the spare room....helps show the room to its potential.....;)0 -

That just paints the most gorgeous picture... are you looking for a long or short-haired one? *ahem* dog that is, not house.
I keep being told that decluttering works best when done room by room - but I've not the discipline for that, so it tends to be done by stubbed toes and tantrums!0 -
