It's not a discount. It's just a realistic estimation of the real cost of the airtime.

I would say the realistic estimation of the airtime is £12x24 = £288

    Fine.
The phone is absolutely free then.

However, I think that about the same airtime is available for about £10 p.m. In this case 24*(£12-£10) is the price you pay for the handset.
  • ive got this phone and this deal and would defo recommend it :j

No it is not free but you are plucking numbers out of the air to make some point...

    What am I plucking?
Yes, I don't pay anything for my airtime and almost anything for my Desire, but I am on two redemption deals.
    • Those who don't like such deals pay £10 p.m. for 250+Unltd+Unltd with giffgaff. Good luck with finding 200+200+1G much cheaper than £10 p.m.
    • So, 24 months of the airtime cost £240.
    • The deal costs £288.
    • The handset costs £288-£240=...
Feel free to correct my errors or to say what exactly I am plucking.
