Hmm yes you are a little far away :rotfl:. Why don't you speak to a local butcher and ask him what he does with his bones? No harm in asking...

Awww.... don't forget though that Shepherds are Very Dangerous Dogs... :rotfl::rotfl:

Seriously though, it's all in the upbringing ;) I seem to remember she was less friendly with those policemen....:rotfl::rotfl:

Oh yes, Policemen are not Zara's favourite LOL
  • Awwwww.. I think i might switch Pash to Raw, i'm sure she'd prefer, I feed her on biscuits for sensitive tum but at the more have to mix pedigree wit it, I know pedigree isn't brilliant but it's all she'd eat and she'll go days without eating otherwise, she's never been a whiner for food or anything.

Did you/do you have any tips with regards to mouthing/herding behaviour? she'd got out of it and yet she seems to be at it again, when people come to the house she wants to mouth their hands, it's never a bite, but it drives us mad!
  • Also our girl has a bit of a banana back :( we were just absolutely niave when we brought her, I brought a German Shepherd puppy at that was it, I didn't think about lines, blood lines SCHH levels or anything. I didn't research properly sototally my fault to an extent but I love her whatever at the end of the day and she has a relaxed, good life with us and we are willing to undertake whatever we need to keep her back and hips healthy.
I don't regret buying her at all, she's my baby and I love her but should have done more research into breeding.

I ask the local butcher a few months ago and he told me due to new regulations he couldn't give me them, but I phoned another butcher a bit further away and he said yes.

Can I ask Caroline do you freeze the bones and take them out in the morning for night time?

I buy them already frozen and put them in (ok ok I know this is very sad..) my dog freezer. It has dog meat, marrow bones and other bones in there... I do tend to buy them in one lot every so often, fill the freezer up, but I get the meat at the same time, so will have bones and meat for around 2 weeks + for 2 dogs for about £20

Oh and, having had a poorly shepherd for 2 days, he's now bounced back and all I can hear is the sound of large teeth crunching on bones!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing - don't beat yourself up about it. I know at least 2 people who have dogs with horrendous hips who did lots and lots of research and got dogs you would think would have amazing hips. However, they then went and exercised said pups for hours every day.... not a great idea!
