Behave!!
Still have a poorly Oakley though, vet turned him into a zombie last night with antibiotics, painkillers and anti-nausea jabs... he's slightly brighter today, but don't you just hate it when the big boys are poorly!0 -

some fantastic pictures on there!
Wow! they give you lots of stuff with your Pup, We got nothing. I can see her pedigree on pedigree database but that is it.
What do you all feed your pups on? We tried Pash on all the fancy stuff but she hated it!0 -
As a pup Zara was pretty much on raw meat up to the age of 1... then was experimenting with various things but she did not want dry food at all, was mixing Burns tins with Burns dry... Last 2 years or so on Orijen - buying Original and Fish and mixing the 2, she loves it, the only dry food my girls will eat. Suits her too as no tummy upsets and runs - which are NOT fun with the fluffy bum she has... yukkk LOL0

My boys get raw meat supplemented with Skinners which I find excellent. Oaks (German Shep) has the chicken and rice and the loopy Spin has the junior one. They both get additional tins of fish (pilchards in oil usually) and a marrow bone every night.0

They breed their Sheps the way you should. I spent ages researching before I got Oaks, and wanted to go for one who had been bred for his brains and not his looks. Mind you, he looks beautiful as well!! He doesnt have the exaggerated 'banana back' that I hate, which seems to be going out of fashion, but his temperament is wonderful. As an example, I was at a local fete about a month ago, had him next to me on a lead. I was talking to someone, and he was sat quietly. Suddenly out of nowhere a little girl about 5 or 6 charged up to him and put her arms around him. Oakley has never been brought up with children, he's only met one or two on walks, although I am careful that if very small children want to pet him I let them (under very close supervision), allowing them to stroke his back while I hold his head.
Anyway he just sat there and let her hug him. Didnt flinch. Wagged his tail a bit and stayed put when she let go. I said to the little girl that she had to be very careful doing that to strange dogs, and she'd been lucky that Oakley was such a big softy. Then she brought all her friends round who all wanted to give him a hug at once. He still didn't move while I tried to establish some sort of order!! (no sign of parents by the way)
So much for the Hound from Hell that so many people think he is!!0 -
caroline can I ask where you get your marrow bones from, I have just started mine on skinners duck and rice and she gets raw mince and fish as well. She is a terrible eater can go days without eating anything, have been to the vet and he says she is fit and healthy and will eat when hungry.
:A (had to put this on for my daughter who is looking over my shoulder)0 -
There's a farm shop near me where they sell blocks of frozen dog mince (I think they put all the left over meat in and mince it, freeze it, then cut into blocks of about half a kilo each), and they also sell 'normal' bones and packs of marrow bones. They are a proper butcher, but this is obvious a nice sideline that gets rid of any waste! The meat is really really cheap - I pay about £3 for 5kg, and the marrow bones are around £1.20 for 2.
I'm in Berkshire - if that's any good for you, pm me and I'll send you details.0 -
LOL, Zara does not have that !!!!!!!" back either and as far as kids are concerned... Hmmmm my own daughter is 21 and Zara is 5.5 so never really grew up with kids but for few months now neighbour is coming down with a kid she is looking after, a little boy and he adores Zara, he feeds her things from his hand and she is ever so gentle with him and careful and.....een if she does not like something - she will take it from him LOL
