Well "Southern" were doing 50p - £1 advance single tickets in the Summer. (90% off)

I believe it was genuine but the wording "if successful" was a bit odd!

I was late coming in on this treads but my first instinct was it just was too good to be true and could be a phrishing scam?

It was a genuine offer run by First Capital Connect.

I believe the reason for the offer was to make people aware of their services. E.g. on the Thameslink route, if you put Bedford-London into a journey planner, you'll probably only be shown East Midlands Trains services as these overtake FCC trains enroute. An offer like this will make people realise that FCC also operate on these routes.

Whether the tickets turn up is another matter. I've already started planning some trips, so fingers crossed!

We might be going back a few years now, can't quite recall when it was, but at one point, First Bus gave away free 7 day bus passes. Bearing in mind how expensive their tickets are, that was quite a good freebie.

Good luck to everyone who applied for the train tickets!

Yeah they pulled the offer and apparently it's our fault...
