  • In the post this morning was my five complimentary FCC train tickets.

They are tickets that you need to scratch the year, month and day off and a bit like a Stagecoach bus pass you have to seal them with a plastic backing.

My mum and I are very excited about our shopping trip to London - thanks very much MSE and FCC!!! :j
  • They must have done a mass mail out got mine this morning !!!
  • Did anyone receive an email prior to receiving the tickets to say that you would be receiving them?

    Thanks :D

I have only received the Service Emails, not one telling me the tickets had been sent. So I can only assume (hopefully correctly)that everyone that applied will receive them - as I did
  • Nope they just appeared , forgot about them to be honest !!!

Its also worth re-iterating that these are for First Capital Connect services only.

e.g. returning towards London from Brighton, Southern also operate over that stretch of track, so you risk getting a penalty fare from Loco Toledo (allegedly a spanish man who wears a cape) if you do that.
  • Well, I was thinking of trying to use these on any First train in the hope they get accepted but if not I'll just pay the fair.

If you board a First Great Western train at a Penalty Fares station with one of these tickets, you can be charged a penalty fare of at least £20 (or double the most expensive single fare to the next station) or reported for prosecution. Cheaper just to buy a ticket.

What is a Penalty Fares station? I am not following.

Do you use these tickets to redeem an official ticket at the counter or do you just board a train and display this when the conductor asks for a valid ticket?

I was just hoping it was the latter and if he mentioned it was not valid I would just pay the fare - or am I over simplifying it?

These tickets are ONLY valid on trains operated by First Capital Connect NOT First Great Western, First TransPennine Express, First ScotRail or First Hull Trains.
