  • For those of you in the east midlands or south west trains areas you can book online from £1 at https://www.megatrain.com
  • I had a feeling this would end quickly, so despite my doubts I signed up last night anyway and am glad I did. :D Although still no idea if it was in fact a giveaway or a competition, but the page now says "Unfortunately due to heavy demand the allocated limit of complimentary tickets has been reached." That leads me to assume that those who already applied should be getting the tickets?
Has anyone who applied gotten an email or anything yet? I got no response from them so am getting a little paranoid that I may have made a typo in the email address box. :(

  • Like you i had a feeling that it would end quickly so signed up
on tuesday evening aswell.I have not received an email from them
either so don't worry about there being an error in your email address as i'm sure there wasn't.I got the feeling that we would hear from them if we got selected for the tickets in due course.
I didn't think i would hear from them straight away so give it a bit of time.Of course if anyone has already received an email from them please do let us all know.

Well, since I live neither in Sheffield or Norwich I can't see how that would help me much? I went to Sheffield once (not by choice, my car broke down on the way to Hadfield (also known as Royston Vasey!) and I had a rather unexpected overnight stay). Can't say I'd want to do it again!

You said in your earlier post that the East never get anything. As Norwich is in the East I pointed out the East had an excellent offer. Of course it wouldn't be of benefit to everyone in the East but very few offers benefit everyone.
  • I have signed up for the 5 free tickets but the station in my city(Hull) wasn't available. I know First Capital Connect trains run from Hull as I have got them previously to travel to London. In the section about travel I chose London Kings Cross twice in the drop down menu. Are these tickets limited to the stations we chose or is that just part of the survey?

As I understand it you select a journey and all the tickets will be for your chosen journey, e.g. in my case I selected Brighton to London Bridge. Not sure how they will deal with your request, hope you get tickets you can actually use.
  • Seems this offer isn't very clear. I assumed I would be able to use them from Hull as it said (with "any" in bold) "Tickets are valid for a standard return journey on any First Capital Connect service until 31 December 2011" rather than stating they are limited to what station you chose. I might contact them to clarify and to see if I can amend my station if it is limited.
  • Just rang to confirm. Turns out you was right chels, these are limited to which stations you pick. Wonder why Hull station wasn't listed on there.

You obviously missed the £1 ticket offer for Sheffield to Norwich journeys with East Midlands Trains, which ignoring give aways and taking inflation in to consideration was believed to be the cheapest train fare ever.
