HI Guys,
After years of dial-up misery I have finally decided to go into the 21st Century and get Broadband.
But now I find myself in a minefield.... can somebody please help me and point me in the right direction.
I have a NTL telephone line currently on NTL PAYG Internet (after NTL cancelled my other contract without informing me and now asking for 50 pounds to reconnect me.... No bloody chance.
Anyways I need help finding a Broadband Provider who is resonably priced and also gives a good service..
Please help so that I can get on of my Dial-up hell.
Thank you all in advance.

Bad news - if you're cabled the choice of BB suppliers is extremely ltd to .... the cable co you're with. So it looks like a £50 reconnection charge.
However, if you're using NTL for phone and internet only (no TV ?) - then by going to BT you'll probably save money. BT will reconnect for free (assuming points are in house) - pay £10.50pcm by DD then numerous suppliers are available for BB from £15 upwards.0 -

Hello to you all, can you help us please, where we live has just gone on Broadband this week, at present we pay £9.99 a month to Claranet for 6pm to 2am, and all weekend, unlimited, with exceptions of no chat lines or downloading music, can you point us in the right direction for the best value, for this price or less, cannot afford £16 a month which seems to be the norm, what is this Fast4 ? Thanks in anticipation, and it will save a lot of reading, cheers oap0

I've recently signed up with www.e7even.com
I'm shortly going to be on a 2GB service (512K at the minute) with UNLIMITED download capability for only £10.21 a month until Feb 2007 (this calculation includes a one off £50 connection charge to BB since I was on dial-up)
OK I took advantage of 2 special offers, neither of which may ever be repeated, but who knows?

Ha ha made you look!
No really
I am looking for a broadband provider who can offer me a free modem and no contract. It also needs to be as cheap as possible - I'm asking for the world here I know!
This is because i only need the connection for one month while i am doing some work at home (this is personal academic work so no buisiness expenses to foot the bill)
- have been talking to someone about it and am now thoroughly confused about the amount of allowance I will need in terms of downloading things and whether my phone line will be compatible (eh?) - I have a BT Phoneline and my dial up is currently with Fast4.net
- I will need to open alot of pdf files etc, will only be working in the evenings and at weekends - I wont be downloading music or games etc
- NB. I have dial up but its driving me up the wall - because its so slow!
any advice greatly appreciated!
PS. i have tried to follow some of threads on the forum about this but I'm going cross eyed trying to work things out!I've made my debts bite-size too depressing to look at all at once so am handling them one at a time - first up Graduate Loan £1720 paid off! only £280 to go!!!
Money to raise for tuition fees: £3000
When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on!!0 -
Virgin are doing a free modem , the offer is still on until end of March. 30 day contract.0

guys,
can anyone help. i am looking to get broadband access but know hee-haw about all the teccy stuff. i would like
- unlimited download
- good speed but not super fast (not used for video downloading etc)
- would it include free modem/ installation etc.
as far as i can see, around £17.99 a month looks pretty standard. i would then need a BT line, yes ? or do some provide that. i read bulldog uses their own line.
can anyone help a non-IT person to get connected.
cheers0 -
