AVG and Outlook Express problems

I am having problems with AVG free and OE. I can receive mails fine, but when I send them they do not arrive and I do not get an error message for hours after.

I am on Pipex and am using Pipex's SMTP addy as needed.

Can anyone help? :confused:

    Try switching off scanning of outgoing e-mails in e-mail scanner, configure.

    Done that. Not working still :(

    I dont even think it is scanning my incoming mail as it is not stamping it at the bottom now.

    Have you had this problem long, made any changes recently? You are using the current version aren't you - V7.5? I'm not aware of any issues when using OE with AVG.

    I'm sure this is one of the occasions when uninstalling and re-installing AVG is the fix

    Hubby can send using OE and no AVG same email account.

    Yep new version. New hard drive so I have to set it up all again.

    Closing AVG makes no difference though, I still cannot send. Is AVG the problem?

    Hubby said to try to uninstall OE which I think is a stupid idea as it is something blocking the mail somewhere.

    Don't think that you can uninstall OE but there may be a repair option. It would not take long to uninstall AVG and start with a clean install though.

    Uninstalled AVG and I can send.

    Will try installing AVG again.

    How could AVG have been the problem if it was diabled?

    double check your spelling i tend to put smtpath.

    Phew seems fine now.

    Must have messed up the first time round.

    I will keep an eye on it but I think it is fixed now :D

    there was a bug in AVG that did this same thing just before xmas, maybe your main AVG program never got updated properly when they fixed it
