@savemoney Clarkson was no where to be seen. However, Alexandra Burke was an aesthetically pleasing alternative :)

Another tip for saving fuel when on an open highway is drive around 4 seconds (or more) from the car in front, and aim to use the gap to avoid un-necessary braking and acceleration. Yopu can then drive extra smoothly, saving loads of fuel.

And when you get to within a few feet chuck out a tow rope to his bumper.

keeps the gap constant and saves your fuel :A:A;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
  • I don't drive that many miles to worry about it. Also driving is one of my pleasures. Does that mean I have to cut down at the pub as well to save money?

Yes dont drink and drive its bad for economy, You may find youve done the whole journey in 1st gear or even
reverse, Weaving all over the road doesnt help either.

Flooring it when the rear windows has blackpool illuminations come up behind and tries to stop you, Will really hammer
the economy. As will running on flat tyres or the steel rims/brake discs.

Brew your own alcohol and stay at home, One for the car one for you.....

These tips were presented in London by Quentin Willson (from Top Gear) Shell for World Fuel Save Day:
    1. Keep your windows closed
    Serious question: In mid-summer...

    Windows Open; Aircon Off
    Windows Closed; Aircon On

    Which uses less fuel?

I suppose Windows Closed; Aircon Off; Drive Naked is an option :rotfl:
I need to think of something new here...

At low speeds (i.e. pootling around town) then you want windows down and the aircon off, but at higher speeds (i.e. motorway and A-road) you want the windows closed and the aircon on

:TI'll 2nd that as probably as good an answer as can be given.

It's always a contensious issue but I think you will find the aircon danages MPG by between 3 and 6%, some claim a little more;)

  • I reckon the supposed impact of using the air con has been totally exaggerated. It will only take 1 or 2 horse power to drive the ac pump which is a fraction of the power needed to move the car. Also the pump cuts in and out so its not running all the time.

I never notice any difference in mpg when using the air con - my advice, if you need to use it then switch it on.
