Not necessarily correct. If the higher gear increases engine load, you can use more fuel than a lower gear.

Remove the aircon pump, rad etc. Remove the spare wheel, Remove the rear and passenger seat.

Remove the carpets and interior trim panels. Swap the electric windows for windy uppy ones.

Replace the side and rear windows with polycarbonate. Not the windscreen the MOT testers frown
    on that.

Remove any non essentials, rear wiper and motor.

Probably save yourself between 1/4 and 1/3rd of a ton.

Accelerates faster and uses less fuel, Perfect solution.

The point about using high gears is that "pumping losses" - the work which the engine has to do to suck in and blow out air and gases - are minimised by using low revs. and large throttle openings. Of course you can overdo this but there are worthwhile savings to be made if you're sensible about it.

Another tip for saving fuel when on an open highway is drive around 4 seconds (or more) from the car in front, and aim to use the gap to avoid un-necessary braking and acceleration. Yopu can then drive extra smoothly, saving loads of fuel.

Oh dear here we go again.
If I remember it got down to "only carry a single debit card and under no circumstance carry coin change"
And even "shave off your pubic hair"

  • @savemoney Clarkson was no where to be seen. However, Alexandra Burke was an aesthetically pleasing alternative :)
