Oh Yeah, its that thing that I keep being moaned at about, as I only started building it 3 years ago and its still not quite finished :)

Anyway I'm not a bad cook, you tend to have to be when you are poor and you want to live (not now btw, a long time ago)

I love cooking too. When I was first married I could only afford the cheapest food, value sausages etc. Then a few years down the line I tried to buy the best food available, which meant sky high food bills. Then I discovered cooking and now have the most natural lovely food and its cheaper so i've kind of come full circle in my food quest!

Let me know if you have any more tips like the yoghurt roasts, im all ears now! :T

Do you use flour aswell? What temp did you heat the oven to?

    I'm intrigued!

I usually par boil roasties, then shake them around in the pan just to "fluff up" the surface, spray them with fry light olive oil, a bit of salt, and a light "snow" of flour from my excellent flour sifter. Then just bunged in the oven at 200 ° i think. I just whack on the dial, never really look. But I love the yoghurt idea! And I'm going to try it in a mo, as I've run out of oven chips, so was going to do roasties instead. I suppose this yog-coating would work for wedges etc as well? Maybe with a bit of seasoning for more wedge-like flavour?

Er. No, I don't think I'd like to try those. They sound a bit yucky.
  • My Grandmother used to parboil the potatoes in gravy (bisto) before roasting them without oil. She also got this tip from Weightwatchers. I don't know how thick you make up the gravy, I guess it would be pretty watery, but I can remember that they were yummy.

I had forgotten that she used to do roasties this way, but I think I'll try it next time.
